Don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere else (sorry if it has), but apparently the Cyprus game is not on RTE. Sky Sports and Setanta are both showing it, so if you don't subscribe to either of these it's off to the pub. ;)

Your right, just checked the sky website there and its live on SS1 at 6.

AFAIK home matches are sold in bulk to the channels, but away games have to be negotiated on a game by game basis, looks like Setanta outbid RTE for the Cyprus game

Its a Saturday anyway, pubs the next best place to Cyprus.

Theres something about George, Jim, Bill, Eamon, John and Liam that sky sports just cant match. Much prefer watching football on rte.

even worse is probably we'll be subjected to highlights on tv3 with Trevor!

I can't stand RTE. Atm Setanta have poor coverage but they'll only get better.

have to agree. rte sport coverage and analysis is far better than all the others. just look at the honesty of the rte panel about the liv v chel match last night.... i didnt see skys coverage but i bet they were far more unrealistically enthusiastic about the standard, entertainment value etc. than rte were. giles is one of the best and most honest analysts on tv

They announced after the Cork City game yesterday evening that RTE will show the Cyprus game.:)

Giles is a very good analyst but he's a poor commentator. He has this very annoying habit of picking up on something early on in a game and just repeating it over and over throughout the game.

agree. in fact i met him in moscow in 2002 and he said he didnt like co-commentating. was only doing moscow as jim beglins sister was getting married and jim couldnt make it. he didnt half moan about it!!
