Only if they reached the 2nd tier though. And if Kerry and Wexford can manage it....
I'd say, considering they'd more than likely be in the northern section, they'd have to travel to Donegal anyway a couple of times a year.

Yes - but not Donegal and Cobh, which was what was stated.
If Wexford and Kerry can make LOI football work havng to travel from the edges of the country to the other end, then I see no reason why Castlebar couldn't also manage to do so covering just half the ciountry and from a less fringe location.

Derry-Drogheda on TV and it's on the Saturday evening.
Perhaps it's an idea to have the TV cup game on a standalone date?
An earlier kick-off would have suited the Drogs fans more, but RTÉ calling the shots, and mightn't have been the biggest audience for a mid-afternoon match.

The Friday is the first night of the Premier League and Liverpool are on TV
Id imagine RTE don't want to be showing a game at the same time.

Could always have gone with Sunday. Now that the GAA & womens Euros are over, there's not much sport for them on Sundays.
I'd have thought Saturday evening was too prime-time for them to show LOI

Unlikely there’d go up against (or anywhere either side of) a Man United vs Arsenal 16:30 kickoff on the sunday

Just checking for this Saturday night, and on RTÉ2 it's a Nuremberg trials documentary and a mediocre film. Summer might be a bit of an off-season for TV.
Rarely get animated on here but am disgusted to see children's classic 'Charlotte's Web' described as mediocre.
'Simon's Webb'....now that was mediocre

Cup tickets v Sligo rovers just gone on sale to members, they won’t last long!
FAI Cup Round 3
Friday 15th August
Finn Harps v Bray Wanderers
Kerry v Cobh Ramblers
Cork City v Waterford
Salthill Devon v Galway United
Bohemians v Sligo Rovers
Saturday 16th August
Derry City v Drogheda United
Sunday 17th August
Shamrock Rovers v Longford Town
St. Pats v Shelbourne
What do most consider the most attractive game from the Friday fixtures?
Obviously the Saturday game is on TV and on Sunday the Pats v Shels game is the obvious choice!

Looking forward to An ClassicĂn in Galway on Friday night, should be a bit of craic. It'll be nice to be at a non-segregated match

I think Pats Shelbourne is the big match of the weekend, both currently outside Europe places for next season so the cup is mega important to both.
Im hoping for a draw for the next round of ,
Harps, Kerry,Cork,Galway,Sligo, Drogs,Shamrock Rovers, Shels,.....and we are at home to Kerry :)
When is the draw?

RTE are showing Derry Drogs game Sat. That would be my game of weekend, Think Derry ave really lost their form since losing to Sligo so ave to make Drogs heavy favs to win!

Sure there would be no realistic way to segregate there even if they wanted to :D "Could Galway supporters please stand behind the section of taped off sideline to the left of the entrance gate to the pitch cage, and Devon fans behind the taped-off section of sideline to the right of the gate :o
What sort of crowd is likely for this game, as once you get beyond 100-150 people then Drom is just useless for spectators.

Thats what happens when our form takes a nose dive.

Thanks. A sensible decision here.
The FAI Intermediate Cup, the FAI Youth Cup and the FAI Junior Cup are among those competition switching from a winter season to an aligned calendar season, bringing them into line with the League of Ireland.
Will that be from 2026!

Think so and they've put a hybrid year in to help the transfer over....whatever that is.

I'll be watching Bohs-Sligo, but flicking over to Cork-Waterford as well.
Wonder who Sligo will have sent off this evening?

The bookies have us at 1.5, with Drogs at 6.5. Drogs lost 3-0 in the Brandy in June, but those odds seems way off. I think the RTÉ cameras are in for a woeful game of football.

Lucky you, LOI TV up to their usual sh1thousery and not replying to emails. They say I've bought a 24 hours pass and can't by another. Anyone else having problems?

Kerry through to the FAI Cup quarter finals for the first time! Poor discipline by Kerry's opponents on this evening.
3 games from Europe in possibly the first year Kerry can qualify for Europe if the 3 year rule still applies!!!

Four upsets in the five ties tonight going on league positions, and two of the top six to get knocked out over the weekend.
Could be set for a new face in the final - or some good old-fashioned drubbings in the quarters or semis

A good regional mix at any rate, between the provinces in one aspect, and between rural and urban clubs in another.

Good regional mix alright. If Derry win tomorrow - possibility of an Ulster derby, Dublin derby, Munster derby and a Connacht derby.

Used to be neutral about English teams. Worked in pubs in Belfast for a few years. Now it's anyone but Liverpool. Anecdotally, they appear like the most anti-LoI/IL of all the English club fans.
Enjoyable evening tonight flicking between games, even if none went to ET. Switched over the Harps one in the first half. Harps looked decent, controlled the game.
Cork also seemed to be good, and Waterford not at all. Poor showing in the second half from them, and Cork looked comfortable even when Waterford were trying to pile on the pressure later on. Cork were great at killing the game, wasting time, buying fouls. Horrible to watch, but you'd love it if it was your team.
Sligo full value for their win? They're just hot and cold at the moment.

Really good performance from Harps tonight. Reacted well to going a goal down and really could have scored more too.
Gives a bit of hope for the last quarter of the season.

Just an awful performance from Bohs with a baffling team section from the manager too. I don't know what has happened to Talbot but he can't seem to even take a goal kick anymore, he's a shell of the player he was. Love Bucko too, but he shouldn't be starting important games at this stage of his career.
The less said about some other the better, but I wouldn't shed a tear if Parsons isn't here next season. I'm repeating myself at this stage but how Kavanagh managed to get a new deal in the summer is one of the more bizarre decisions I've seen in a while by a club.
Fair play to Sligo though, Russell has them set up well and with Elding, Fitzgerald, Hakiki and O'Kane they have a very exciting front four.

On this, I honestly think a part of the reason why the loi has gotten some buy in from Irish people post pandemic is how ****e Man united have been and their fans looking for any alternative. Stands to reason Liverpool fans have been more stubborn.
I don't think it's the hottest take to say if LOI attendances would double.

For the European prize money on offer, bad losses for Bohs and Waterford. Cobh and Bray are comfortably in the playoffs. The top 3 in the First Division should be able to have a good cut at going for the cup.
