Shamrock Rovers are expected to announce who will manage the club in its first season in Tallaght later this afternoon.
Former Shelbourne manager Dermot Keely remains favourite for the job but Athlone Town's Liam Buckley is also in the race. He has still not been offered a new deal at Saint Mel's Park following a bad season for the midlanders.

Rovers chairman Joe Colwell requested permission from Town chairman Paddy McCaul and he duly spoke to the 41-year-old Dubliner, who is unlikely to turn down a possible move to the Hoops.

In contrast, Keely contacted Colwell revealing his interest in the post and he was interviewed last evening.

Buckley led Saint Patrick's Athletic to the League title in 1998 but Keely, with three League medals as manager in his posession, is most likely to replace Damien Richardson.
