Very decent cup final, weather really killed the attendance, athlone a fine side, really bossed it after a good Bohs start .after going 1-3 down though, Bohs really fought back, lovely second goal( first was a cracker too)and really put it up to the midlanders but really solid defending and some good game management saw them lift a double completing cup, great advert for the women’s game here.

It was a fine game of football, just like the last time they met. Bohs are a great watch and I can't praise that version of Athlone (which we might never see again) highly enough.

Interesting statement from Rovers yesterday - Stephanie Zambra out as head coach which is what it is but i thought the below was some interesting language

"The Board has conducted a review of the women’s section at the club and will make an announcement on its strategic direction in due course."

I thought it was a mandatory licensing condition now for clubs to have a women's team?

Tbf I don't think they are suggesting that they will pull the side (again).

It's just a pity that the women of Ireland generally don't bother supporting this league. It must be going for 15 years now. If there wasn't free entry to Galway Utd games with a men's season ticket there would be nobody at the games

James O'Callaghan is to be announced as manager on a full time basis.

We have blown a fortune on the womans team over last few years.
No transfer income possible realistically, no gate reciepts in facr playing in tallaght it probably coats us money to open.
Hopefully we take a more realistic approach going forward.
I know its probably mot PC to say it but of it wasnt part of the licenxkng criteria it would be hard to know why youd bother, no one cares hence the pathetic gates

Kind of an extremely long term investment in the future of the women's game. It's getting bigger globally so it makes sense with investment that will happen here to but obviously the licensing requirement is there because the payoff probably in the medium term is minimal
