We need to get more points than Derry City and I think we will.

The way we're both playing you've got to think we'll both win most of the remaining games against teams with little to play for (UCD, Bray etc.), which means a couple of key games ocudl decide it.

I reckon Bohs-City is the key game for us before the last 3 games run in. Derry have an easier run in, but the Harps away game is the biggest chance of them dropping points. If we can beat Bohs at Dalyer and Harps can take a point against Derry that will give us a 5 point advantage going into the last three games (on the basis that we get the same points as Derry in what should be the easier games). On those results a win in Waterford should do it for us.

On the other hand if we slip up against Bohs and Derry beat Harps then you're looking at a point or two in it with Derry virtually guaranteed home wins against Pats and Waterford and very likely to get one away to Bray.

To be honest I want it to be well over before we play Shels...

What we need:
Oct 02 Cork City v UCD

Oct 07 Bohemians v Cork City

Oct 14 Cork City v Drogheda United

Oct 21 Shamrock Rovers v Cork City

Oct 28 Cork City v St. Patrick's Athletic

Nov 04 Waterford United v Cork City

Somewhere in there, Harps away.

18 points from these 7 games, and this will give us 71 points going into the final two games. I think we need 73 or 74 points to win the league so that means at least 2 draws from these two games or 1 win.

Nov 11 Shelbourne v Cork City

Nov 18 Cork City v Derry City

Little or no room for error!

Don't we still have an away to FinnHarps, who will be fighting relegation? The last two games are either frightening or the kind of challenge that makes champions. Being still ahead of Derry at that stage would be a huge help to the teams confidence.

Advantage still with Cork City. Assuming at draw City v City at the cross that would mean Derry City only have 7 games to make up 3 point deficit & inferior goal difference with 1 game disadvantage.

If Cork City were to repeat the results earlier in the season will finish with 74 points wheras Derry will finish with only 65. ;)
