i couldnt care less if we deserve to qualify or not or if we're good enough to qualify or not as long as we're there. its surely better than not being there at all no matter how we ended up doing in the finals. how could anyone be happy for us not to qualify?!!Couldn't agree more. People who are 'happy' to see us not qualify have no interest in Ireland. I couldn't care less if we got there now with a rake of dodgy goals and decisions. If people want the beautiful game then f*ck off and support Brazil like so many hangers-on do.

Anyway, I've got a good feeling now. Perhaps the Swiss will underestimate us now with Roy gone and perhaps Kerr can get the team to knock out a victory against half decent opposition.

The fact that Keane is 35 now. not being pedantic but I believe RK turned 34 last month

They are not able to replace him and we certainly can not.

That said. We have to learn to do without him.

By Summer of 2006 he will probably not last whole games anyway so we should start thinking without him now.

the canuck speaks the truth here. it's inevitable.. the pressure on the irish team these days makes me think kerr plays conservatively - i wish he'd throw on a kid in the middle once in a while, even in a big pressure game. foolhardy from every standpoint i understand, but we need a breakthrough there. there's little creative identity in midfield with the obvious exception of duff, lesser extent a. reid. c'mon young garvan, if i have had to abandon hope with sean thornton, someone else must come and fire the belief.

No kerr is gonna take any chances. He has never done it and I doubt he will. He has done quite little for Ireland IMHO. I still think we'ill beat the Swiss though mind and I'm organising my days off for the playoff dates now.

Mea Culpa.

The Cyprus game is the key now. If they are not fired up for that and firing on all cylinders we are screwed. There is no question the team will be up for the Swiss if they beat the Cypriots. They will be buoyed by an away win and playing for a place in the playoffs.

I'm watching for cheap fares to Europe myself in November and hoping (not expecting) they make the playoffs.

I can't see Kerr dropping Kilbane. He's just too conservative of a manager for that.
