Carew Park should beat Castlebar Celtic. Celtic play a robust long ball game and tackle hard and play a high line, trying to catch opponents offside. Gavin Dykes is smart, but not terribly pacey. Couple of players have suspect temperments and are liable to get sent off. They have a good central midfielder in Steve Ryan, but is liable to flip the lid if provoked. When Celtic take the lead, they kill the game off. Sean McHale is a strong and good striker. Russell Gibbons is very dangerous from set pieces and they hit every long ball to him. There was controversy on a signing of a goalkeeper over the summer. The current keeper is prone to embarrassing mistakes. Declan Reilly should not be available as he was sent off against Sherriff Youth Club. Celtic have a small but very passionate support. Despite Gavin Dyke's comments on The Star last week, there was never 2,000 people in Celtic Park at a game over the last year. The biggest crowd there was dominated by the opposition.

thunderblaster, you might as well be talking about carew there. Carew are a long ball team aswell, every free no matter where on the pitch gets pumped into the penalty box too. They've players that are liable to flip the lid. Carew also have a small but "passionate" support.

thats a tad harsh ! carew can play very attractive football.
they have some nice quality players with a mixture of a few physical ones like most good teams.
thats a bit irish coming from you porn star when you consider that for the last few years pike have done nothing but defend and score breakaway goals !

dont be stupid you know very well carew are a very good footballing team they did not beat the boro 4_0 because they pumped long balls into the box in fairness call a spade a spade here. i will agree they have a couple of players that can lose the plot sometimes ill grant you that. carews two strikers are very strong o connor is top goalscorer in town and he has missed the last month and ger ned is also very dangerous both very strong in the air.

i would say pike has more players sent off this season than carew park aswell carew had two sent off this season as far as i know

Right,

Up to date Waterford Table
Played Points
Carrick 9 20
Tramore 9 19
Crystal 9 17
Southend 10 17
Bohs 10 12
Ferrybank 9 12
Villa 10 11
Dungarvan 10 10
Hibs 9 7
Johnville 11 5

As you can see, they are a poor team in a poor league (Carrick and crystal are the only 2 decent teams with any real hope of outside honours)

They have scored 13 and let in 16 in the league. They lost their best player (Michael Downey, ex Spurs, to his local Div 2 team this year, that same team knocked out Crystal in FAI). He was there center forward for the last few years and got them to a MJ semi final a few years back but they have very little up front since he has gone. Their top scorer in the league is Kevin Walsh (3 goals) and he plays in the middle where he likes to come and get the ball from his back 4.

They will be sticky, they have given the likes of Carrick and Crystal good games this year but also lost points against both Hibs and Johnville. They are supposed to be tough to break down but certainly have no one player as a danger. On the Waterford Oscar Traynor that won it out last year they had no player in the squad. Their keeper is small and heavy. Good luck.

This was posted on the ballymun united forum today:

There's alot of Ballymun want to bees out there. No wonder they go around smelling themselfs its just a handy tie that ballymun will win they'll come back to Dublin telling each other their great and then get beatin in their next match. This is for the real players of ballymun (best of luck) but get a life the rest of the team who jumped on the band wagon u should be playing with ur own teams u rentboys. Rule 1: Don't get beaten by them half pikey imbreed muck savages and get the **** out of there as quick as you can when use win.

Come on the hoops on Sunday............

I was at the pike game yesterday and it was a shocker. Pike didnt want to play. They continually lumped the ball forward a la wimbledon in the eighties. I actually felt sorry for the ball (and the neutrals who shelled out to go to this tripe). I have no doubt that the pikeys will be found out by a footballing team who have a couple of speedy forwards. Ballymun showed absolutely nothing yesterday. A very poor advertisement all round for supposed top level junior football.

Yea it wasnt much of a spectacle but there was a lot at stake , and considering pike scored so early , you can't blame them for holding on to what they had. An ugly win is still a win!

And wrongly so. Dubious penalty and the keeper getting sent off swung the game in Castlebar's favour.

Thunderblaster what game were you at?. I am new to this site and while I have been a member I have never met anyone as bias and anti-Celtic as you. Now I know club rivalies run deep but you are taking the ****. First of all I'll agree with you that the first peno was not even a foul, but I can garantee you that if the game was in Limerick it would have been given. Secondly Carews keeper handballed outside the box and had to go no? From the resulting free-kick the midfielder handballed again no? Peno stonewalled!!
Celtic were no way the better team that the score suggested but I am not going to come on the Limerick site and tell them what they want to hear. Celtic won fair and square deal with it. If you have any to gripe about why dont you give off about the Westport fans cheering for the Carew Park side!

Yes, the first penalty was not a penalty, the other two penalties were penalties and I do not dispute that. The Carew keeper's sending off was the game's turning point and it was a stupid sending off TBH. No referee bias in that one. If the game finished 11 V 11, Carew Park would have won, as they were the better side, even if Celtic were unlucky with the effort that came of the bar. Anti-Celtic? not, but I'm giving a frank opinion on the game. As for the Westport supporters at the game, I couldn't care less who they cheered or didn't cheer for, that is a matter for them. As Mayo football is concerned, I'm neutral and hope that the teams do well.

Did they win fair and square i don't think so nor does carrew may have won on the pitch but not off it.
that if you play by the rules you can only play with a max of 4x league of ireland/ pros in one game they had 5 lets not even go down the road of c.k.
so i would think again.

I can bring it to you first I have now been told from Celtic source who got the letter. The Mayo league rules 34 is in order and players can transfer after 31st july in Competitions outside M.L.as per rules F.A.I. C.F.A. IS 31 JAN.
This is of course bad news for Carrew who appeared to be given wrong advice rather than looked at the F.A.I. RULES.ie R-42 which there appeal should have been base on.
However I dont think I heard the last of this. But one must add this Good news for M.L. regards to players they transfered after 31st July anyone getting ideas I sugest to forget.
