Aberdeen 1 V 3 RISSC – Sunday 11th September 2005

1st league game of the season was a trip South to Wandsworth for the Club team, despite the “usual withdrawals” we were still able to field a strong team led by new captain Liam Kelly.

Wearing the new kit supplied by FAIreland we were into Aberdeen from the start. Mick Coffey playing out on the right in midfield came close whilst Karl McGee and Donnie Mullen marshalled the defence, flanked by Dan Healy and Jon Carey keeping any attacks at bay. Timmy Nagle played with his usual confidence in centre along side Emmett Mannion who along with Adrian Ward were off the plane from KOS at 6am this morning. Despite the pressure the Aberdeen goal was not breached in the 1st half with Mick Coffey, Jon Carey, both forwards Liam Kelly and Phil O Dwyer and Timmy Nagle coming close.

The breakthrough came about 10 mins into the 2nd half Tim Nagle picked up the ball about 35 yards out and unleashed a shot which floated over the Aberdeen goal keeper. 1-0 to the Irish though the lead was short lived, with Karl McGee receiving treatment for a bloody nose picked up during the goal celebrations Aberdeen broke on the left crossed into the box and the ball was deflected past Darren Nolan by an unknown Irish Shirt. The Irish kept up the siege of the Aberdeen goal, and the 2nd goal came when Adrian Ward sent Phil O Dwyer away on the left and crossed for Mick Coffey to make it 2-1, the 3rd came minutes later when Phil found the ball at his feet 5 yards out 3-1 to the Irish, sub Damian Greavy came close near the end to make it 4.
