waterford had 54.000 at landsdown against man utd in 1968 and again in 1970 against celtic.. beat that.
The population of Waterford is 44,594 in the last census. so did every single person in Waterford go? and picked up a few on the way like?

the population in waterford city is almost 60.000 and 120.000 in both city and county.
Waterford must be in serious decline because according to the last census, the population is 101,546 of which Waterford City has 44,594 and Waterford County has 56,952

Jaysus, you can actually see the wool on some of them!
it will be a long time before cork get a crowd like that.
the best crowd you ever had were in flower lodge against waterford
1970 league decider which waterford won 3-2 with 10 men in front of 30.000
your deuding yourself if you think the crowd was there for Waterford!
Mu oulfella went and he's a Man Utd supporter  ,so you can minus 1 from yer total :D,
I think I remember my dad saying he was there, and he'd be neither Waterford nor Man U.

But in those days weren't Waterford called Waterford FC. The United tag only came sometime in the 80's I think.

Are you honestly telling us that all the apparent 819 in Prague were die hard Cork fans and there was no ex-pats going along to watch an Irish team involved  If they were fair play but I sincerely doubt it

You are right.
No matter how much the blaahs like to delude themselves, WUFC doesn't have 75 years of "history".

The vast majority were imo. There may have been 100 max who weren't but the rest were.
sure they were! they even bought city jerseys and scarves just for the day that was in it

What's in a name? Unlike Cork City, Cork Athletic, Cork Hibernians, Cork United, Cork Celtic, Waterford United was just a name change, not a whole new club.

not at all. the very vast majority were city fans
didnt see any of the langers coming back on that. :D
its a record attendence that will never be broken by any other league of ireland club,, never.
WUFC and Waterford FC are NOT the same club, no matter how much deluded blaahs like yourself wish it to be so.
Just like you had 54,000 fans in Landsdown to support Waterford....
Maybe you could organise a collection amongst them all and their descendents now, and save the club that came after the club that played Man Utd.

Impossible for the fact that no football ground in Ireland will ever be able to cope with that capacity bar Croke Park being opened up for a WUFC Champions League game

It was a name change, not a new club. Waterford United says it's the same club, and the FAI says it's the same club, so forgive me if I'm not exactly taking your word as gospel.
