If you had to choose, as a Cork City supporter would you prefer to win the league title and lose to Slavia, or beat Slavia, forfeit the league because of a great group draw with a couple of major names and earn shed loads of cash for the club?

I know that most of you will go for the obvious and state the league, but remember, theres the bones of a million euro to be obtained through a couple of huge draws in the UEFA Cup? Thats money that if used properly could cement your future, develop your ground and sign you a player or two who will guarantee league success maybe next year.... :ball:

A million euro would be great, but the league has got to be the priority this year. Don't you know we Cork people are very fickle. :p :p We are constantly told so anyway. :D :D

We've already had major European success this year. Gettign this far is fantastic. Anything else would be purely a bonus.

The league is now our priority.

Winning the league means Champions League next year so that's the number one priority for me.

league without a doubt it is great to progress so far in europe and hopefully we will make it to the group stage but winning the league is more important.

I've always been a league person & never been too pushed about the FAI Cup.

However with possibility of being 1st irish club in European group stage really tempted to go for that ahead of the league.

This was debated on official CCFC forum & i'd say at least 80% went for the League.

Its debatable how mcuh could be earned through group stages as only 2-3 home games & each game negotiated for TV individually. Would need to draw UK or Germany team for some good TV money. Serious issues with floodlights for group games too so be more prestige in group stages than cash.

Team has been very professional this season & treated every game the same.

its is true that europe is very good for earning money and i hope we get as far as we can but i still think winning the league is better.any teams' goals for a season would be to win trophies and winning a professional league is a major achievement.

So what if we do make it through to the group stages would
then be the time to concentrate on the League, after all we
are committed to playing the next 2 games in Europe so
come what may they will have an impact on the Longford &
UCD games. If we qualified then after that the lads could concentrate on winning the domestic league while still have
the glamour of europe..

I'd definitely say the league title. Obviously it would be fantastic to make the group stages of the UEFA Cup but to win the league title would be really, really special. We've done so well in Europe already this season as it is but like I said the league title is way more important at the moment.

I would take competing well in the group stage over a league title. It would have a much stronger impact and better ripple effect throughout domestic football if City could compete and not be embarrased in the group stages of the uefa cup than a league title.

Thats just my opinion anyways.

I have to say that winning in Europe is always the priority for me ( for whichever club ). Isn't it obvious that playing in Europe means that you are playing the best teams on the continent rather than in your own country?

Surely knocking out Slavia Prague is a bigger achievement that beating ANY Irish club? If Slavia Prague were playing in the eL would they not win the league almost every year? Do they not have a nice big stadium? Have they not played well in Europe before? Surely they are 'bigger' than any eL club?

The money is obviously a factor but not the major one for me.

No comparison for me really. Europe first. When eL clubs make major breakthroughs in Europe maybe the sickening history of Irish 'fans' supporting British clubs will come to an end and every soccer fan in Ireland will support an Irish club -this will be a new dawn for the eL ( think of 10-12,000 at each league game -cool ).

winning in europe is great, but we need a trophy. plenty of fellas out in the cross every second friday who've never seen a City player lift a national trophy, and many more who've never seen a City team win the league. Its been too long

You obviously didn't read all of my post, in particular the part where I said:

To be fair while $h€l$ would have their eyes on the money (as would all clubs, let's be honest), they do understand that achievement inEurope is a good thing for the whole league and can se the bigger picture.
They don't have a small-time, part-time attitude.

I changed my opinion now so definitely winning the league priority now. Europe is great when can travel away but now missed last 2 away trips doesn't seem as important.
