It's from a Patrick Kavangh poem I was doing in English today, "the Great Hunger" it was called. Very strange poem. :confused:



If its the same one that I am thinking of, Ronnie Drew gives a superb rendition of it, I think its on his first solo album after he left The Dubliners.

I must admit that I gave up even wondering how people became mods after PP got in :eek: :D , then again, head boy, foot.ie mod - the man is power mad!!

No sorry my ignorance of Irish literacy heritage is here for all to see, the Ronnie Drew somg 'The Great Hunger' was in fact written by Shane McGowan.
