Magic , no one likes playing on that pitch an it has nothing to do with football.
There sideline and support is caustic and a certain few of there players really disappoint with certain comments, I won't even repeat as the word disgusted me in this day an age there's no call for it.
Tom Tully (RIP) or Chalky were the only ones who stood up to the bully boy supporters that turn up at there games.
This comment that was made is indemic of the culture down that way. What surprises me the most is that comment is thrown when as a club Coachford have had more northsiders than any club playing for them . There 1st league title was basically top heavy in Norries, so to throw that comment out sums them up.
Pity for such a decent side but no one is really surprised.
Agree with you there mate

Coachford is a tough place to go same as O Neill Park for a reason. Theres a reason Grattan were only team to take points off them out there last year shows consistency year in year out from both clubs and the rivalry which is great to see being outside of a City Derby. As for the headbutt I read above whether you’re up or down that’s really leaving your team down. As for comments about the supporters etc. you have that kind of atmosphere in grounds here in the City too it’s the reason teams don’t like coming to certain places to play. Have no issue with it if I’m honest if anything it’s good to see support for clubs in AUL when they are home. As for the comments made during the game I was not there so I won’t have my opinions on it but just a personal opinion I might be completely wrong but that’s what this forum is for
The comment was in regards to a coachford player calling a village player a knacker we were neutrals behind the goal and heard it clear as day and nobody should be called that word but the ref took no action and a few minutes later a hefty challenge went in and the same village player who was called the name headbutted the coachford player and that too is unacceptable

Feel very bad for pa long a great player throughout the years but in recent years can’t get a break from injuries and again today with his knee seen him been carried by people on the sideline hopefully not too bad

It wasn’t the same player . The full back was called a knacker . Village should have had a penalty early on . Coachford first goal was well offside. Coachford no question the better team . For some reason the ref had no interest in booking coachford players . Village had a good 20 minute spell in the second half. A long season there yet.
Village also missing older gearty Keegan Bunter lawlor and the young left full .
Ref was shocking also . Players couldn’t talk to him and he had smart answer .

A draw and a loss.. where does that leave them now do you think? I suppose Lenny doing best for team signing lads but u need lads to gel too going off comments above a lot of individual players for them. Hopefully can be pushed a side and get a result next game

Watched the goals the first goal was not “well” offside. It’s on their social media.
It might be slightly if at all but not well offside.
We are one week into the season now and all the big challengers to Coachford have all dropped points already.
It looks like it’s up to watergrasshill to chase them down

Feel sorry for Leonard as he has done a lot but that's the harshness at the top. They would have to win 11 of next 12 to win it. What a player Luke Casey is.

Water"who"hill,,,,,,,,wtf have they exactly ever won.
Your having a laugh son.
You think in all honesty the awe inspiring AUL will be able to juggle special treatment for Water"who"hill, UCC and Coachford and the other 5 will take it.
Goldfish an his little black book will have the Aul peppered with calls , not to mention the rest.
This season maybe more competitive but I can see it being a disaster with league games clashing with GAA games.
UCC,,,,,,,when is there 1st fixture,,,,September.

Lads it hasn't even been confirmed if its a normal 2 round season or a 3 round season . There only 8 teams premier,,,14 games ,,,,, get knocked out of the cups first round and ur done Xmas week ffs
Cityboy66
25/08/2024, 6:42 PM
Jason I get where your coming from, it’s 16 games not 14 based on leagues not idea if it’s 2/3 rounds tho. Is 16 enough or? Genuine Q? Without being funny.. you just don’t know what hill will give in premier. Could be great could be bad. I seen results today they won so I suppose they won’t have game another few weeks now.

It’s 2 rounds of games
Confirmed

25/08/2024, 7:18 PM
Folks , sorry now buy there's only 8 teams in premier,,,,,so each team on a home and away basis can only play 14 games.
Prem A is worse .
They only have 7 teams , home and away 12 games
So sorry goal,,,,,,not doubting ya but someones dropped the ball big time if they think an entire league season will last 14 league games,,,,,,,those who do well , will play most weeks ,,,,,those who loose there way could fold by Xmas

25/08/2024, 7:30 PM
There are 12 league matches in premier A
Hence the reason the Henry Healy is made up of 2 groups to guarantee teams that extra game or 2 through the season.
This is fact.

Whilst I agree with you that the little games is disappointing it happened last season also.
Clubs with just a 14 game season and they weren’t finished until mid June had they another round of games it would have been early July before they were finished

What’s harsh ? What’s the expectation? No came out of Village and said they’re going to be winning trophies. Village is a long term plan . People on about superstars there after signing. Who are these big players ye are on about . Village will tip away nicely
Play it out
25/08/2024, 8:47 PM
Players and management said they would win the lot ao that's the expectation.
The harshness is the ruthlessness of Coschford and Grattan in recent years and the little room for dropping points to win.
Superstars? In Junior football then Dean O'Connell, Jamie Murphy and Aaron Hennessey are seen as the Marquee signings with their records.
Tough week for them, things will improve, they will overpower many.
I don't see it being a long term plan with many lads old, it's now is the time, the clock catches everyone.

It was a 3 round season think it was 2-3 years ago and it was a disaster because a certain team going for league got most of the home games in the 3rd round of fixtures so In my opinion 2 rounds is enough it's not the aul fault if the clubs go out of local/fai n junior cups early is it really. And your spot on Mr Bourne ill b out with my black book each game and rightly so only looking after my own club we had great win yesterday against Springfield but we are not getting carried away just taking 1 game at a time I know it's a cliche in football but that's the we we operate up here as regards to village I do think people are getting carried away with all the signings they made people asking out they are gone be like man city and win everything to me personally they are gonna be more like an liverpool team promise the lot but faulter mid way through n might get an odd cup run but as someone said it's a long term project lose 1 more game and be no premier league tittle going village way and will all the galacticos stay just for cup run we wait and see

We may have to go the long way about this but it will boil down to the same 2.
The rest won't have the legs , bodies or attitude. They forget where they are in the bigger picture .
Yep , they will make it interesting but realistically in the long run they will fall away.
Some of the contenders only want to beat Coachford or Grattan,,,,,all the norries just want to beat Grattan an they roll over the very next game ,,,,,they all turn when they have to travel to Coachford,,,, quite bois then,,,,,, but up to O'Neill Park and the laiathriodis drop big time.
They forget they have to beat the rest .
I hope these words offend because the truth hurts, Coachfords best weapon is that everyone wants to beat Grattan , they can just sit back and wait.
Grattan have been going out to Coachford for years an winning, nothing to Grattan bar a game against a tough side. Let's see of the so called contenders who contends. But Xmas will be a better validation of where all the teams are at.

What he means by harsh is he has worked his arse off to bring in BIG PLAYERS and it hasn’t gone to plan so far. It is early days and they will get better but I guarantee if you asked Leanord would he be happy with 1 point after 2 games the answer he would give is no. There are a Lot of teams can’t recruit for the new season and he has done some job but there is no hiding that it hasn’t gone to plan so far. I have no doubt he will get it right but he will be hurting after today and that would be the same for any of us.
I bet if you asked Derek when he went back with Knocka last year he was gutted with the way the season started and how they were out of the league so soon in the season but he went on to win a cup and have something to show for the season. Village are well capable of doing the same this year.

All the big challengers to coachford dropped points??, they played one game and you think the league is over, Grattan beat them last year below and drew with them at home. Castleview who were given no chance have 4 points from 6 in two away games, watergrasshill mysteriously get a couple of weeks off and you think it’s upto them to chase coachford haha cop onto yourself it’s a long season ahead you of all people should know that.

This is the most competitive premier in 10 years grattan were beat by the team everyone predicted to get relegated. They’re playing catch up already. They’ll all take points off eachother it won’t be a two team league I can guarantee that.

I tried to edit a message but deleted it, apologies.
Being a manager I would think you would know that dropping points in the first couple of games doesn’t necessarily mean you cant win the league. Me having no experience as a manager would think it just means there’s less margin for error going forward. Every team in this league will drop points.

Grattan drew their first game last year and won the league
But this coachford are a different animal this year.
As a manager or even when I was a player the plan was always to get off to a flyer and win 4 or 5 on the bounce to start.
Bar coachford I think the league will be very competitive this year. They just have too much.
That’s my opinion and no one will change it

The difference between the premier this year and premier A last year is there wasn’t as much competition in the premier A. This premier is fierce competitive and no doubt coachford are the team to beat but I just think there will be points dropped by every team and it won’t be like the last 5 years where a loss and a draw or 2 losses will mean your out of it

I Don't think we will have any problems against Grattan nxt week with the squad we have we will be to strong all over the pitch for them we have more depth and definitely more legs than them so can only see 1 outcome on this espically on the bigger pitch as we all know the bigger pitch doesn't suit Grattan with the age of squad as it shown against coachford out in turner's cross in mossie final.

Will you give it a rest I was informed you have no affiliation with castleview whatsoever and you are trying to stir the pot. Not long ago you were slating them and bigging up greenwood. Castleview hurt your feelings last year and you changed tactics this season. I know a few players very well and none of them would think like that. They are only up from premier A and the aim for them is to stay in the league and build a squad to compete, it’s a long term project, they know it won’t be as easy as last season.

I will say in Leonard’s defence, out of his superstar signings, the two best were missing in Keegan and Bunter and the 3rd went off injured after 20 minutes. Hard against any side let alone coachford with their tails up

From the village point of view, they started well without creating too much in the final third. I think not getting a stonewall penalty knocked them a little bit, but that’s not to say that coachford weren’t the better team overall. They are looking very strong, it’ll have to be a strong performance to get results down there this year.

Has anyone any confirmation on whether the Prem will be 3 or 2 round fixtures?
I understand the necessity of midweek games as per last season's debacle with the weather, but as it stands, teams like Castleview/Village will have 4 league games played by the 1st/2nd week of September. At that rate, with 2 round fixtures, you'll be over halfway through the league by October.
TurnTheFullback
27/08/2024, 1:05 PM
2 games Folk , good point but after the weather last year and number of games called off , creates a bit of breathing room to run the cups with the league without all the hold ups that we saw in previous years.
