why is it that when a new member is added the number of members doesnt go up.And also most of the new members never post at all

why is it that when a new member is added the number of members doesnt go up.And also most of the new members never post at allThe number does go up, but I trim the fat once a month - <1 post & >30 days missing deleted - so the increases are very small. If I didn't we'd have about 10k users now, but I don't see the point of that.
