The current unbeaten run began with the trip to Lissywollen, and with the weather expected to be much more favourable than recent weeks, a bumper crowd should be anticipated at Mounthawk Park on Friday. Kennedy Amechi and Seán McGrath are both back in training and should be in line for returns to the matchday squad, and while Nathan Gleeson is also recovering, Friday may come a week too soon for his involvement. Like Kerry, Athlone have seven points from their last five games, including a notable triumph against Finn Harps last week. Still, the Kingdom should have no fear of their opponents, and with some potential extra firepower this week, can be hopeful of consecutive home league victories for the first time, before what looks to be a challenging run of fixtures in the coming weeks.

This upcoming match on Friday isn't far off being a playoff chasing six pointer. Kerry go above Athlone with a win, or a result the other way sees a six point gap emerge. If Kerry are to challenge for the playoffs, they have got to be more clinical in taking their chances to secure the 3 points. A tough run of games coming up but again, a part from Cork, Kerry should be confident of picking up wins against the majority of teams in the division. If two of the recent draws had been wins, Kerry would be in the top 5. Players are hinting they are chasing the playoffs. Some of the signings have hinted they want to be challenging for the playoffs. They have to start taking their chances more consistently.

Hopefully with players coming back from injuries it stops any complacency setting in. Teahen or Healy to drop out for Mcgrath if fit? 2 nil win for me in front of 750 souls.

7 seats left for sale in the stand. Fine weather and good recent results. Biggest home attendance more than likely.

And even those are the restricted view seats that are generally blocked off until everything else is sold!

Teahan for Healy is the only change to the starting XI that started against Longford.

James Sugrue was right in his post match interview. The players got too carried away and didn't work hard enough. Hopefully a lesson learned. Six points off the playoffs. Draws won't be enough anymore for any lofty targets.

A hard one to get the head around. Started well, full of confidence and creating chances. Got the lead deservedly and after 30 minutes it felt like another 3 points was on the way. Gradually Athlone started coming into the game and by 40mins had the game on their terms. Then all the old failings came back to haunt - bad defensive mistake for the first goal and second ball off a set piece again for the second. Never looked like equalizing after that.

A steep learning curve.. on to Bray and hopefully a better performance.
