Forget about the goal difference with the French. But the tenacous Faroe tackling might bear fruit.

Bad feeling. 8-0 anyone? Deja vu WC'02.

Plenty of crippling tackles should keep the score down, hopefully.

The Faroe supporters are giving their all, banging what sounds like pots and pans. There must be a few hundred of them.

He got a fair whack in the first half, I hope Roy made a mental note of the spot.
Still 2-0

74 mins. Thuram is still off, limping badly.
Faroes are still hanging in there, there must be a few more tackles left in this game.

maybe they just realise that we are a great nation of people and we were partying hard up in the faroes, so they are donig us a favour by injuring french players.

Hard to say, he is sitting on the bench dripping with sweat with a towel over his head. Time to throw it in ZZ :)

The French are jumping higher now to avoid the tackles

Nah, ZZ was always like that, he'd dawdle through a game, play a few passes, then in the last few minutes beat five players and score from 20 yards, he's just that good.

geysir

Gallas is suspect as LB.
Boumsong still defensivly shaky not that he has a lot to do, got outjumped twice.

Them French Comentators on Tv5 must be on the soup this evening, they are singing more than the suporters bless.

Is it possible that the commentators on TV5 have had a couple of drinks before (during) the game?
I don't know French, but their tone of voice and sporadic singing make me a bit suspicious...

That puts Ireland and France level on everything - points, goal difference and results between sides. A draw in Wednesday's game would see us both going into the final set of games (us VS Cyprus and Switzerland, them VS Switzerland and Cyprus) with identical records!!

The faroes are just catching the pace of the game now, the whistle will come too soon for them.

When first goal was scored one of the guys was telling a story and the other guy was trying to interrupt him to mention the goal.

All three have to play Cyprus, so I think at the end of the day it may come down to who ever puts the most goals past Cyprus. Don't fancy our chances in that regard as we're never good at running up cricket scores against the weaker teams.

that's right - be negative before we even start!

It's the time honoured Irish tradition.

Thanks for the tip Sligoman. I watched the game a 6x normal speed at 11 last night! An unconvincing win with some injuries is what I hoped for & what we got!

Very happy with the way yesterday panned out.
