What tune should be played when City take the field next season: obvious ans. is Elvis with Falling in love ( not the wingey ub40 cover), however thats not what I am looking for. After last seasons performance someone suggested ( after the MSC final) that the theme music to the Muppet show might be appropriate, so with humour in mind any suggestions?

Goodness do I have to wait until school finishes???
OK to get the ball rolling...How about 'Send in the Clowns'

we asked the same question a few years back on Hoof! and the most popular susgestion was, surprisingly, The Hustle :D

I suppose that "Who Let the Dogs Out?" would be too obvious? Anyway Pats play that already

"Suspicious minds" would have been good under the last board:D No reason not to play the banks, or else falling in love would be a good one.

well if were going to have another bad season then i suggest
''losing my religion'' r.e.m.
and ''everybody hurts'' too
i suppose that would be hard to sing now that i think of it..............

"It's time to play the football,
it's time to light the lights,
it's time to get things started
on the Gunther show tonight"....
To the tune of the theme from the Muppet show.......:D

I could always play the part of Stadler or Waldorf if I moved to the stand. Gunther as Gonzo?

Noelle as Miss Piggy?:o

Sorry but she's the only female character in it, and you have to admit, there is a bit of a resemblence! :o

Very cruel indeed. Noelle has put too much time and effort into the club to be treated like that.
We could always bring Plonker back and put a wig on him:eek:

With humour in mind, how about 'Simply the Best' by Tina Turner. As much as we'd like to believe, it just isn't bloody well true!

Well I remember the great chant we had for Derek as the FAI cup went down Pana in '98 "Derek is our hero, he looks like Rob de Niro, na na na na." I think Moses was responsible for that gem!

Liam's got a new job, teaching boys & girls,
How to hoof the ball away, when it gets near defence.

Oh Liam....

Apologies for bringing another league into it, but you'll never get anyone singing a Rangers song at the cross!

that was used a few years back

That Eanna is the same as saying that Fields of Athenry is a Celtic song, when it's actually Irish. The fact is Ibrox Stadium isn't the only place that Simply The Best is played. It is also played with pride in such venues as Thomond Park and Musgrave Park if you ever bother to go there.

Sheesh, calm down! I was only pointing out what a lot of peoples reaction would probably be. I've no problem with the song.

To those who have dubbed me a 'rugger bugger' let me get a few things straight.
1. Rugby is my 2nd favourite sport.
2. Soccer will always be my favourite.
3. Cork City FC are closer to my heart than anything else in this world.
4. I used Thomond Park and Musgrave Park only to illustrate my point.
I hope you're all clear on where exactly I stand on the issue now.

Surprised that no one mentioned "give a ball a yard of grass" from the late yet great 'sultans of ping f.c.'

give him a ball and yard of grass,
he'll give you a move with a perfect pass,
give him a ball and a yard of space,
he'll give you a move with godly grace.

if god meant game to be played up there,
he would of put goalposts in the air
if god meant game to be palyed up high
he would have built pitches in the sky.

maybe someone could change some word s to include a rant on gunther

fupp off gunther

Sorry City Fan (ya West Brit );)

A few MORE things I obviously need to get straight:
1. There's absolutely NO chance of the above happening, I'm perfectly willing to engage ye all in a war of words forever. Just don't expect to get anywhere.
2. A west Brit is someone from the geographical area referred to as the Pale. I am a Corkman through and through.
3. Regarding wisemans comments, he obviously can't be too wise. I would not even consider wearing an English rugby jersey ANYWHERE let alone the X. I do NOT support English rugby, I support Irish rugby i.e. Munster.
4. To those who continually accuse me of being a so-called rugger bugger, let me repeat what I have already said. SOCCER IS MY FAVOURITE SPORT, RUGBY IS MY 2ND.

Murphy Out Now!!

Couldn't really give a flying f**k what you think, oddboy. As long as I'm a member of foot.ie I'll protest, give my opinions and wage wars of words as is my right!
Funny how this supposed rugger bugger has become a convenient target for all you GAA SPAS (closet and otherwise)!:p

Only a wee slagging is all. Just thought I would combine the two issues together for a laugh like :D
Mind you this thread is supposed to be about songs for CCFC!!!!
It seems we lost the plot a little.
As for the Sultans. Well if you want a song written specifically for a foreign player who never played for City  it's not what I would choose.
Joy Division a good one though.

A GAA SPA is, fairly self-explanatory really, a GAA fan/hardliner etc whatever category they fit into.
