View Full Version : Whipping Boy Comeback
Heard this from source close to the band.
Whipping Boy to reform for 2 once off November dates.
Excellent news if they can recreate the heartworm vibe again
Girlfriend works with (ish..) their bassist. Very bitter about the whole thing, doesn't like to talk about music, let alone the band
yea it was a very messy breakup did think wed ever see the day they play together again.
side note - fergal is playing a solo gig in Crawdaddy i think Sat week for charity, with cork band mongoose and a couple of others. Cork band fred also rumoured to pay. should be a great nite. was thinking of heading up to see it.

In the Ticket last week, on page 10 I think James Carroll wrote an article on Whipping Boy and said stranger things have happened than a reunion soon to be on the cards. I then saw a spark of a number of music sites rumouring this too. Unrealistic hype or likely story? I would be there for sure!! Class it would be as long as they dont kill each other?
yeah i know what you mean gareth, i heard those rumours too
but now i have a good source on it
it will happen :)
I know a source close to the band, lets just say she had a twinkle in her eye.... ;)
she could be blinded though, the personality of certain ppl can be very persuasive
She's also got a couple of days booked off in December, not November btw... I remember what we were like when we were young...
This is great news if it happens.
I bought Heartworm again a few months back after losing the original copy of it I had years ago, its pure class! :D

02-Sept-'05: Breaking News:
Whipping Boy have announced that they will be reforming to play two gigs in december this year. One in Dublin and one in Cork.
Venues and dates etc. will be announced in the next few weeks. I will post any further information here as soon as it is available.
Someone may have beat me to it but there you go.

I was thinking of going to Crawdaddy Saturday night too to have a peep.
My latest "let's recommend them to everybody" project Vesta Varro (http://www.vestavarro.com/) are playing too.
It'd be great to see Whipping Boy back on stage again, I've heard the rumours but to be honest I didn't believe them, the split was a bit nasty from what I remember.

Whipping Boy live???? Where's the drooling emoticon when you need one! Super news though. :)
Was talking to the guy in the moth's job. He said he's looking forward to it but they're not sure if its a fully fledged comeback or just one or two gigs. He said he's unlikely to give up the day job so they're unlkely to try and become superstars agian...

Anyone hear how McKee's gig went in Crawdaddy, any classics?
This is the best musical news I've heard since the start of music. For me only a Stone Roses reunion would rival it.
I remember McKee coming out for a gig covered solely in gold paint, head to toe. Legend stuff. Cannai wait.
