Never had a strong opinion of the guy one way or the other but the abject failure of his government to feed and evacuate it's starving citizens is frightening. The guys sheer incompetence is breathtaking. He has to go after this debacle.
Did anyone hear the mayor of New Orleans on the radio today? Said it all really!

It as taken backstage at a concert of a country-singer, can't remember his name, but the concert took place only a couple of days ago AFAIK

im with george on this one....its a natural disaster fer fecks sake - whats he supposed to do?

its not an easy one like the saudi attack on the twin towers - which was easily solved by invading afghanistan and iraq

The War On Weather is just around the corner I'd say.

Someone told Bush that the insurance companies won't pay out because the Hurricane was an Act-Of-God. Therefore Bush is gearing up to announce a Global War On God, because God hates our freedoms - our freedom of speech, our freedom to vote and assemble and disagree with each other and our freedom of religion (uh, well maybe not that last one...)

unfortunate coz it appears george certainly wasn't with his fellow people - he slashed flood and hurricane relief funding this year (and every year of his tenure) and cut the army corps of engineers' budget so this disaster wouldn't have been as bad - one official blamed the war for swallowing up much of the funding. incredible! i was ready to give the guy a pass this time but seeing as he went on political fundraising trips to arizona and california before cutting short his five week holiday by a whopping 2 days, well he reaps what he sows. he's sowing devastation. there will be photo-ops in n. orleans now, pics of him with black babies as he 'takes charge' with his bullhorn. the man is a fabrication, there is no man. he's just words and an image.

"easily solved"?! looks like they're still trying to 'solve' that one..

Everyone was told to evacuate, the fact that some didn't is because of they underestimated the size of the storm. I'm not a Bush or American appologist (far from it), but you can only blame the guy for what he was responsible for. The major problem with New Orleans is that it mosly lies 6 feet below sea level and therefore the flood waters can't get out. I suppose you could blame the French for originally settling a in a place that was so low!

i think the point is that the poorest HAVE nowhere to go. think about it: are you going to just leave your home, all that you have, and.. what? jump in a car and drive to a field somewhere? it's likely these people have seen flooding and inclement weather plenty of times in the past and in the hopes of riding this storm out, they stayed. i don't like this blame the victim mentality. and the major problem with n. orleans is that it's THE major port for american commerce due to its access to the mississippi river (and heartland commodities upon which the country was built up) so it simply must exist exactly where it is. the result of this is that it'll likely be rebuilt as a rich white port city, well above sea level

He's responsible for not helping the poor, who had no means of getting out, get out. He's still not helping them get out. So yes, he is responsible.

It looks like the axis of evil has just got a new recruit, Mother Nature yet another blatantly evil satanist worshipping nemisis includind some names you might have heard of, Iran, N. Korea, Islam, Homeless Palestinians, Homosexuals, A domestic policy, forward planning for natural disasters, butchered Chechnyans, hanging chads and most of all armed groups who resist americas imperialist policy by force. These are just some of the groups who just wont bend over to americas enormous will-ie.
