This is interesting...
The Seattle Sounders supporters (ECS, Emerald City Supporters) have a forum set up about Galway United in the section "Other Teams We Like", it also gets alot of views! They would like to open a dialogue between both of our groups  .

Check it out for yourself...

Straight to the forum... (http://www.soundercentral.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=49)

Hi to all our friends in Galway. I'm a member of the ECS (and soon to be a GUST member, just sent off my payment yesterday), and just had my account validated here. On behalf of the ECS, I would like to invite you all over to our website and forums, and wish the Tribesmen good luck the rest of this season. Also, if someone could forward a message to Barry Moran, tell him that a distant relative, from Seattle, wishes him a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the welcome, Terry. We (the ECS and Sounders both) had a great match, last night, our regular season finale. The Sounders beat Montreal 1-0, and the ECS got some airtime from one of our local TV news programs. This is the link to the video: http://www.king5.com/perl/common/video/wmPlayer.pl?title=www.king5.com/ki_090905galindo.wmv

Hi all, just wanted to give you an update on the happenings with the Sounders. After finishing 4th in the table, we played our arch rivals to the south, the Portland Timbers, in the first round of the playoffs. We won leg one, 1-0, in Portland, on a 2nd minute goal from our leading scorer, Roger Levesque. Coming home for the second leg, we put the Timbers away before half, on two more goals from Roger. We then faced the team who finished atop the table, and the defending champs, the Montreal Impact, in the semifinals. Playing the first leg at home, we frittered away a two goal halftime lead, with the Impact scoring two in the final five minutes, to head home (where they have not lost all year) for the second leg even. Needless to say, we were a dejected group of supporters. Then the miracle happened. Tied 1-1 in the 90th, with the mini-game, and possibly Pk's looming, Roger came through again, with a strike from 20 yards out, beating the league's goalie of the year, sending us into the Championship match, which we will host, on saturday, against the Richmond Kickers. The start time for the match has not officially been set, as of yet, but for more info, just check www.seattlesounders.net or www.soundercentral.com

Excellent!

Is this the top league ye play in? or is there a chance of getting promoted to the Major League?

Also, I see on the website there is a guy always were Ireland and FAI tops? Is that you or anyone you know?

Thats me in the Ireland kit, and I usually have either the GUFC crest or FAI crest as my avatar. USL D1 is like the Eircom 1st div, except we don't have pro/rel over here. It'd be great, but not practical, because our teams are franchises, instead of clubs. Not many businessmen want to see their investment being dropped to a lower division. It's a shame, since many of the USL D1 teams have been quite competitive against MLS, in both friendlies, and the US Open Cup, which is like the FAI and FA cups, over there. Minnesota, who didn't even make the D1 playoffs, got all the way to the open cup semis, before losing to LA. They beat TWO MLS sides on the way.

Well, it's less than 34 hours until KO for the championship match, here. The local media has been doing a pretty good job (compared to the regular season) of promoting this match, with interviews/stories on the TV news, and commercials on both TV and radio. No one, besides fans, has made any estimates on what the attendance will be, but it would not surprise me if we came close to, or exceeded our season high (8502, vs Sunderlund).

SOUNDERS WIN!! SOUNDERS WIN!! SOUNDERS WIN!!!!!!!!!

Wow, what a great night. It took us 7 rounds of PK's to decide the match, but Seattle now joins Rochester as the only 3 time league champs. A crowd of 8,011 was on hand, and both teams put on a hell of a show. Richmond controlled most of the early play, taking a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute, on a 35 yard strike from Sascha Gorres. After that, Seattle had much the better of play, with several good scoring opportunities, finally drawing even in the
73rd minute, on Maykel Galindo's first goal, since defecting from the Cuban national team, when they were visiting Seattle in July. The play started with Leighton O'Brien taking a free kick from 40 yards out, to right of the box, sending it to the far side of the 6 yard box, where Taylor Graham, USL D1 defender of the year, headed it across the face of the goal. Ryan Edwards was able head it towards the far post, where Galindo put a hard right foot to it, beating Richmond goalie Ronnie Pascale. The two teams would trade a couple of scoring opps in the remaining regulation time, and both halfs of extra time. Going to PK's, the Sounders took an early lead in penalties when Andrew Gregor and O'Brien both converted, but the Kickers would respond to tie it up, on goals by Gorres and Williams to even it at 2-2 with each team having one kick to go. Seattle would miss their fifth chance as Graham's shot was saved by Pascale, leaving the Kickers with a chance to win the title on a conversion by Kevin Jeffrey. The Kickers forward was not able to convert however, as his shot was over the crossbar so extra kicks would be needed to decide the final. After Kevin Sekuda and Matt Pauls converted, Scott Jenkins gave the Sounders the edge on their seventh kick, a shot that trickled in off the hands of the Pascale. Ronnie Pascale would take the next shot, and would miss, putting the shot off the crossbar and and over. After the match, the Kickers would stay on the pitch during the awards ceremony, applauding the Sounders. As they left the pitch, they also applauded us members of the ECS, and Pascale came over to thank us for our vocal support during the match. He is one class act, as he also would applaud, wave, and smile to us all during the night.

Who cares what Cinders fans think. And as a CCFC fan, what are you doing on the GUFC forum, anyway.

The tune is similar to "Who's your father, referee" as sung by some clubs in Ireland. The Stars, I know that attacking visitors is considered normal behaviour in Sligo (see four page thread on main forum).

Please desist from snide comments towards our guests on this forum.

Well done to the Sounders !

Well, almost, Terry. My grandfather was born in County Galway, but came to the states in 1914. My family name is Moran. As you would say, I'm a yank, but I'm proud of my Irish heritage, from the history of Ireland, to the accomplishments we've made in building up the USA.
