Is (3) not Alan Cork? I know he was the first player to score in all four divisions (coming up through the leagues with Wimbledon).

Cork never scored a hat-trick in the premier did he ?

Dunno. He was a fairly prolific striker in the lower leagues; may have notched on in the First Division (as it would have been then). May well be Earnshaw though.

Robert Earnshaw all right. See question 58:

Some very interesting other questions there as well.

I think Alan Cork played in the first season of the Premiership with Sheffield Utd. I remember his Cup semi goal for the Blades from the previous year very well, they were a goal down to Wednesday via a Waddle free kick and Cork scored from the right side of the box placing it past the onrushing keeper while appearing so red and out of breath that he looked like he was going to collapse. Sadly Wednesday won that one in extra time.

it was actually during the first season of the premiership in 92-93

Oi!!!

Earnie scored a hattrick against Charlton in the 4-1 win last season. Oh, and the Baggies will stay up no problem this season. Bye bye Mick McCarthy. :D

I'd say the merseyside one is Beardsley ok...

Sadly Wednesday won that one in extra time.

 The wonder goal from a Waddle free kick and the extra time winner from Mark Bright. Happy days. Sheridan pulling the strings in midfield.

Everton 2-1 Liverpool, December 1992:
Peter Beardsley joins the exclusive list of players to have scored for both sides in a Merseyside derby when he nets the winning goal at Goodison.

This would lead me to believe that more than one man has done this-any other suggestions.

Question: Which player (apparently there is only one) played for teams managed by Jack and Bobby Charlton?

Question: Which players have played for five or more Premiership teams?

Question: What was used in the 1973 Cup Final but has never been used since?

Question: Name the three footballers that have played, and scored, in the Manchester, Merseyside and Glasgow derby games?

Googled the hell out of the Jack and Bobby one. I think it might be a dud. Bobby managed Preston North End from 1973-1975. Alan Kelly(senior) played for Preston until 1973 and played under Bobby. Alan Kelly Junior played for Ireland under Jack.

Of course it could be a player in the Preston squad from that time who played for Middlesboro or Sheffield Wednesday under Jack??? Tough one...

Mark Lawrenson is the answer did he not play for Preston when Bobby Charlton was there and also play Ireland under Jack

OwlsFan
23/08/2005, 10:23 AM
Correct. I remember Lawrenson saying somewhere than Bobby Charlton was a very nervous manager at Preston and his hand used to shake when reading out the team.

Alas Lawrenson's career under Big Jack was curtailed by injury. How we missed him in Euro 88.

One of the most interesting questions and wierd facts I remember was that at the end of the 2003/2004 season in England, the team which came Alpabetically first in the Premiership won the Premiership and the team which came alphabetically last in the League came last in Division 3and the team which came alphabetically last in each of the 4 league also came last in their divisions. Arsenal is the obvious answer to the first one but is wierd fact and makes a good quiz question.

joeSoap

either Yeovil or York City?

Yep, York but what about the other 3 teams which finished bottom of their leagues ? No search though Google now.

2 out of 3.

Aberdonian Stu
23/08/2005, 3:11 PM
It has to be Wolves as there was no-one alphabetically below them in the Premier that year. Obviously WImbledon (as it was 1/3 before I said them and then it became 2/3), and as we already know York we are left I tell you with....
Wycombe Wanderers

So just as a recap, Wolves, Wimbledon, Wycombe, and York.

OwlsFan

That's the 4. Amazing really. Wonder what the odds on that would have been ? Last alphabetically in each division finished last while the first alphabetcially won the Premiership.
