I'm sure I won't be alone in celebrating or drowning my sorrows before and after the Ireland-France game. I took Thursday 8th September off today to give the job a bit of notice rather than phoning in sick. :) Better off getting it done early so you won't be worrying about getting up the next morning.

It's pretty much assumed in my place that if Ireland are playing I'll definitely be off the following morning and more than likely it will be the full day.

why would you be off?

There's a group of 7 seven of us that go to all the home games. Afterwards we tend to go on the beer and the following day I don't tend to be feeling exactly top of the world so it's best for all concerned if I just take the day off.

Been thinking about the 8th for awhile...I'm up for work at 6am and I'm not really keen about pullin a sicky. (it'd be kinda obvious) and I've used up all me hol's. If we lose or draw I'm goin in and if we win there will be no choice in the matter obvious or not :)

I only have a couple of days leave left myself and I need those for Cyprus. I'm pretty lucky here that you're able to work up time to take off on top of your leave.

I'm planning on having the whole month of september off work, just got too work out my latest excuse, I can't use i'm getting married anymore like I did for a couple of away trips cause someone in the bookroom will work out that's my third time getting married, so I might just go again with stress like I did for the Italy game, mind I suppose you would get stress also from being married three times.

You could always tell them that you're stressed out from undergoing yet another messy divorce.

Now that is a very good call, No messing that could be something I could use to go along with my method acting trying to look stressed. Like it.

I was pretty hammered in work the day after the Italy friendly so I guess you just get used to it. France game'll be no different.

No chance. A hangover for me and there's absolutely no way I can work. One, I've yet to meet anybody that gets a worse hangover than me and two, the work I do is tough enough when I haven't been drinking. :) Also, I've been building up for this match for months. I want to make the best of the night.

Lads, is there a place where people can meet up before and after the match? Just like the Saturday in Paris, we could have a foot.ie sing-song before the game. I'm not suggesting we meet up at the Millenium Spike however. Unlike the Eiffel Tower, if it rains the Spike won't keep you dry. :)

Outside the Lansdown Bar with cans again I reckon like for the Israel game. It was well rowdy & got the atmosphere up nicely.

how about the cross roads at the north terrace end of the ground where slatterys pub is?
both teams have to drive through that crossroads to get to the ground. would be class if there were greeted by a huge sea of green clad fans

are there any decent pubs that are likely to have a good pre-match singing session?
have been going to Ire matches since '87 but yet to discover a great spot for a bit of pre match atmosphere

I haven't got a ticket so I'll be watching it in Oil Can Harry's on Lower Mount Street. Its called Paddy Kehoe's now. I'll be heading there straight after work and should be there by 5. I know the barmen so there'd be no problem with us starting a pre-match singsong in the pub. :) Its not far from Lansdowne. One of the places's where the pubs are not as packed as Baggot Street or Bathavenue but pretty much the same area. Jesus, I can't wait.

Lads seriously no lies; The Lansdown Bar just under the bridge, Bath Avenue. For the Israel game the place was mental outside (down a little lane off the street), everyone with cans singing & going crazy, it was great craic & I think we should all make the effort to go there to get it all sparked off. I think I'll take the day off work for this so should be down there by 3 & well on by 6.30.

As previously mentioned, I won't be reaching for the sicknote, rather the hangover in work the next day.... :o
