If we manage to Beat Shels tonigh and Derry on Friday, is the league all but over do people think?

Its a hypothetical question so dont go into the ifs ands and maybes

IF we win both games then yeah I reckon it's as good as over but otherwise there'll still be a lot to play for.

ya 2 wins and its as good as over, i rekon 2 draws and we will see us close in on the league in a few weeks time. I think from a mental thing it would be good to win the league prior to the final two games of the season which are shelbourne and derry, even if shels were not in the reconing you may be sure they would not make it easy for us.

Two wins on the trot for Cork would put you 9 points ahead of City and a whopping minimum of 17 ahead of Shels, so would look pretty much game over.

I'm personally more worried about us struggling to beat teams like Pats and Bray at the moment though...

Don't worry, there'll always be enough injury time for you to sneak a draw. :D

If the players started to think that the league was over after getting two wins then I think we'd be in trouble.
There's is still 1/3 of the league campaign remaining after Friday.

Your probably right, but i hope not for the sake of an exciting finish to the league, nothing worse than the league been over with 2 months to go....

It will go to the last day as ever. Fact!

Dissapointing to drop two points at home to a poor looking Derry outfit - especially to that flukey goal. We totally outclassed them. Armstrong looks like the signing of the year!

2 wins means 2 wins, The league will be far from over.
we've seen 12+point leads evaporate before and with 11 games left anything can happen.
The league will not be over until we cannot be caught.

It would be over for $h€l$ but not for Derry.

Gaining 6 points won't make the league over, no more than dropping the 6 points will.
Derry's last two games should have have been 6 points dropped, but late, late equaliser's meant 2 points. That kind of keep going attitude, and the certain amount of luck involved, means they will be in the running right until the end.

As wws sort of said, it is very likely that it will go down to the last game of the season, especially as City have their 3 hardest games of the season to finish their program, WUFC, $h€l$ and Derry.

No Definitely not. 1/3 of season to go. Too many times over the years big leads have been cut. Way too early.

WUFC. One of the hardest games of the season ?? :D :D :D :D
Yes.
To Waterford it's the biggest game of the season, they treat it as their most important game. Of course WU fans will try to play that down, but this is the one game they are always fired up for. Consequently, it is often one of our hardest games every season.

Granted. But if you - Champions elect - can't ***$ all over a team destined for relegation already, then you can throw your hat at it ! At least three nil.

Derbies are a stand alone type fixture. football doesnt work like that.

but then Longford and football dont go together do they?

one all last week in Cork - same team beaten one nil at home by Rovers a week later - no legislating for derby results really.

Vowed to myself I wouldn't make any predictions until the second series of games was over and sticking to it.

However pessimist that I am I'd point out that even a 9 point lead wouldn't be impossible to bridge over 11 games.

Derry only have to get the gap down to 2 points before the last game in the Cross and if they win that game......

On a brighter note last night's win was feckin brilliant. Was exhausted after watching it

I can only see the title going to one place. Turners Cross. The best team this year by far. Hope they beat Djurgardens and give us some european respectability.

I predicted 1-1 in Sweden & 1-0 last night.

I'm going for 1-1 in Derry & 1-1 in Uefa 2nd leg at the cross although i think could also be 1-0 to City...
