Watching the Pats game on the box so I have no updates from the other games.
Decent enough game, Derry unlucky to be behind to be honest.

Pat's are uncomfortably close to us and out if the two cities I know who I want to win the title. ;)

Half-time now. Derry dominated the opening 20-25 mins with some mazy runs from McCourt standing out. The goal seems to have given Pat's a lift though and it has evened out, pretty end to end stuff, could well be more goals in it.

Well I'd rather Derry win the league than Cork, but a Derry slump could see us nick second!

Apparently it's 0-0 at HT between UCD and Longford. 2nd half of Waterford v Shamrock Rovers has kicked off. Also 0-0 apparently.

A decent game this. I'm not sure if I'm unimpressed with Derry or impressed with Pats but it has been a fairly even game, Pats goal was very good. Passes from the keeper up and an excellent finish. McCourt looks like Derrys only player who can carve out openings tonight, they'll need a big improvement in the second half. Pats are playing and passing well.

Shamrock Rovers 1-0 up on Waterford. Ciaran Foley.

Kevin, I'm not in Ireland, I don't have a clue how it is going. I'm as desperate to know how the UCD game is going as you are the Derry. I'm sorry to say I am clueless on both.

Re The Derry game, Farren just missed an absolute sitter. Free header from a few yards out, headed off the ground and bounced over. 7 minutes plus stoppage left, still 1-0.

12/08/2005, 8:29 PM
Pats just narrowly missed from an indirect free from inside the box. I thought he had given a penalty for handball which it probably should have been.
Slash/ED
12/08/2005, 8:29 PM
And Farren has scored now. 1-1
bit of a fluke, he knocked it off the defender it bounced back hit him and went in, not sure how much he meant that at all

Only for tonight :D
It was, but it's been end to end stuff. A draw, if thats how it finishes, is probably fair on both sides.
Into stoppage time now
Aertel says it was a Macguire own goal
Definitely Farrens goal I'd say, but I don't know how much he knew about it.

Well at least they were quick about it. :p
Great save from Ryan from a Derry header, corner now
That's it, it's over. 4 minutes of injury time played. 1-1, I'm very happy with that :)

UCD 0 Londford 0. 3rd draw on the trot. Given Longford's position I suppose it's a decent enough result but I was hoping to win.

Robbie Martin missed a penalty about 15 minutes from time for ye, smacked off the crossbar.
When we played SPA a few weeks ago, they were the worst side I had seen all season. Yet they looked a fine side last night, and with a bit more belief would have taken all 3 points. Why haven't SPA been able to play as well, or even near it, as they did last night, all season?

jesus someone complementing the saints football , what next ?!!
that was our best performance for a long time. johnny mac got his tactics spot on and every player gave 100%. the new additions to the squad seems to have given the team a lift and all 4 that played last night have made a big improvement to the side.
long may it continue

BTW the indirect free kick was a definite penalty. Typical antDublin bias refs

One in the first half where Delaney handled it was even more of a penalty.
Kelly undoubtedly bottled it, as shown by his decision to award the free kick. Then he decided it would be taken from some random spot in the penalty area.
Wasn't the free kick in the box given for a back pass?

thats what i assumed it was too...
MariborKev

It was, but the free was taken from a random spot- neither where the backpass was played from, nor where the keeper picked it up from
Not like Alan Kelly to allow frees to be taken from a random spot in a vital game, eh Kev?
