This was their first win in their second game of Round 2 qualifiers in the UEFA Women's Under-19 European Championships - with one more to come on Tuesday against Croatia.
Head Coach Dave Connell made two line-up changes from the opening defeat to Germany with Jayne Merren and Eve Dossen coming into a team that also switched to a more attacking set-up.
The instruction from Connell was clearly to make a fast start and to put Norway under pressure. The team responded with Cork City ace Eva Mangan registering the first attempt on goal inside 60 seconds.
Captain Emma Doherty and Mangan then had other chances before the breakthrough arrived on 19 minutes when Athlone Town midfielder Scarlett Herron found the back of the net.
Ireland continued to control the game after that and increased their lead on 72 minutes when Mangan converted a penalty after Herron was fouled.
Norway hit back on 82 minutes when captain Julie Jorde fired in but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback as Ireland collected a deserved win in Group A1.
