After the two-round hiatus earlier in the month, First Division football returns to the Kingdom on Friday, and a performance similar to the Treaty game would be more than welcome. After a promising start to the season, Athlone have rather hit the buffers of late, but the dramatic comeback in Lissywollen at the weekend highlights their ever-present goal threat, with Frantz Pierrot liable to take advantage of any lapses in the home back-line. That said, nor should the dangers posed by the Midlanders be exaggerated, and this is the type of game where we should be targeting at least a draw, and potentially even a win if the scores are level facing into the final 15-20 minutes.

Very accurate in assessment and the team should be looking to get their first win against a side that started the season really well but recently haven't kicked on. That being said, we are still only 5 games into the Season.

Lessons have been learned and you would like to think that the team start to show more on defending set pieces because its really their achilles heel at the moment. Early days, but a result and maybe 3 points would be massive.

There are no signs of any defensive lessons being learned. Defending a free kick from near halfway should be routine, instead a knock down and a goal conceded within 3 minutes. The second goal conceded against Wexford was dreadful. Acres of space to take all the time needed to slot the ball home.
A lot of players have been given plenty of game time to be getting up to speed. The first target should be to keep a clean sheet. With the attacking threat of Gaxha and Kennedy, the goals will come. Hard to predict a result for Friday. A clean sheet is needed. A win is also needed.

Another Sell out!! I think that tells you that the support for the Club in the community are continuing in getting behind the club despite the results. I thought it would have petered out by the third game.

A first win for Kerry FC and I could see another sell out for the next home game. As the team go into their 6th game, lessons learned and adapting the playing style should make the team tougher to beat while also having a scoring threat in Gaxha and Kennedy.

Billy Dennehy and Jonathan Hannafin were on the LoICentral podcast this week.
The Treaty game was entertaining. It will have helped the sellout for Friday night.
