Banners in the stands if we dont get 3 points against Shelbourne ;) I'm only joking right now but the crowd were turning just before we got our third against Cork.. At the end of the day if we are winless by the time we play Pats that will be the game where the **** hits the fan.
No excuses left with Pico back, time for a performance....this team normally delivers when needed so i'm hopefull Friday.
Dundalk could be top by Friday night which would confound all predictions pre season, big game for Tim Clancy against Bohs.
Waterford changed their manager early last season and that could be repeated if they drop more points in Athlone.
Big weekend for a lot of teams, if Derry beat Dundalk and we lose to Shels i'm calling it early...the league is over for us.

the *** will hit the fan big time at Richmond if we turn in another performance like the last few and lose to Bohs.

Hopefully the **** wont hit the fan with all the rovers fans in the home end, yes we need to win big time.

We could be 13 points behind derry and I would still expect Rovers to win the league. The season is long, and if derry have a prolonged period in Europe this season as I think they will it will ultimately have an effect on their league chances.

We will be equally if not more affected
i was hoping we would get a run in Europe ourselves again but if losing in QR1 meant we had a better chance of retaining the league id take it?

Some big games this weekend already in the premier. Big game for Dundalk to see if they are actually any good or not.
Would love to see Dundalk, Bohs, and Shels win. I think that would make the most compelling watch.

Eamon Deacy Park hardly the ideal venue to visit when looking to climb the table, but there has been a gradual improvement in performances with each outing, so it should be a better display than in Bray, if nothing else.

Yeah I'd bite your arm off for that now.
Europe is good for finances but doing 4inaRow is paramount, in my book anyway.

Galway will be a difficult opponent. Kerry have been competitive in the opening three games. Galway however are capable of causing damage. It has been mentioned all winter that there will be some tough results to take. Billy might have to park the team bus but the policy so far is to attack. It should be a good test and a reality check.

Pitch inspections in UCD, Derry, Richmond and Tolka. The Derry one is strange, what is there to inspect on an all weather pitch? It’s either covered in snow or it’s not, and if it is it would surely just need to be shovelled off no?

Looks to be ok. Very little snow left on footpaths. I'm guessing the pitch is clear too.

The golf courses are open, so the pitch will be grand. It'll be hitting freezing around KO, so only possible issue could be icy stands.

Does "pitch inspection" cover access routes to the ground and so on? So if it's very icy around the area, that could still lead to a postponement.

I would guess that's it, yes. Inspection is done and match is on.

Not sure but if that’s the case why call it a pitch inspection. Surely ‘the area around the Brandywell will undergo a safety assessment’ would suit better.

Such belief is laudable PC and I agree in that it will be far too early to concede a league even if 13 points adrift in round 1. That said, I think this Derry side is a lot meaner this season and wont have a major blip like 2022. Last season they would have buckled under the sort of pressure of the Tallaght game but they were efficient and effective in getting the win against the run of play. They will mostly outplay sides but will grind out results too imo.
I cant make any calls that arent just stating the obvious on Derry v Dundalk. A result for Dundalk will be excellent, it could be a hammering either. We will know a lot more about this Dundalk side by tonight than we will about Derry tbh. If we win well then I may have underestimated how our season could go....
For the fun factor Dundalk, Shels, Bohs and UCD wins will be 'great for the league'.

speaking from experience, those pitches aren't immune to frost/ice. we'd regularly train on one of the FIFA certified ones and once or twice, when there's loads of dew that freezes, it becomes crazy dangerously slippy. also the grass tears much easier at that temperature, so there's much more wear and tear on the pitch.

Treaty United definitely not a patch on where they were the last two years, struggling a fair bit. I rely on my father for news and he's given up already! Only so much you can expect I suppose, but a dismal start to the season.

Rovers again had about 70% possession but created little … as for Shels well coached and organised but offered nothing up front…. Without checking the records I’d be surprised if any side has even won the league after starting with no wins from first five….. pity but staring to look like the players have lost their hunger ; they need to look deeply into themselves as they’re one match from losing the supporters … still like all periods of dominance always sad to see it dying with a whimper or can Bradley show another side to his fantastic management skills and turn this around…. I believe he will

It's really surprising how poor you were tonight. Not sure what way Clancy wants you playing. Don't think we played our best tonight tbh, second goal tops the Sligo winner for defensive ineptitude Will Kelleher pull the plug?

More laughable than laudable to be honest Nesta. Absolutely dire from Rovers tonight albeit playing against a team who seemed to be using kicking for touch as a tactic.
At least ucd, drogs and Cork try and play football. If duff ever becomes Rovers manager he won't last long with that anti football..

Think he wants crosses from wing backs and quick ball up to the forwards when the ball is recovered. But we don't have enough players in the box for crosses as the midfield is terribly set up with it too deep to provide support for the attack but not deep enough so that teams can find space in front of the backline. And when we recover the ball we're too deep so that backlines have a field day winning headers and recovering second balls. It's both ineffective and not great to watch.

The saying "whoever finishes above Shamrock Rovers will win the league" might need to be amended this season.

Hardly a vintage performance from Bohs tonight but showed a lot of effort and perseverance that was missing in games the previous 2 seasons. Last year we would have found a way to lose that game even though Pats only had 1 effort of note from a corner which drew a great save from Talbot.
Pats are a strange team. They have some very nice players and good individuals but they don't seem to be working well together. Defensively they looked poor and I'd say they looked worse attacking. Do Pats fans think Clancy will last much longer?
