25th of the season for Murphy, who will be mystified by how he wasn't named POTY.

Showing the alleged judges the folly of their pitiful selection while Bamford toils to no avail against Fulham while Middlesbrough's title hopes evaporate.

Ipswich back in front - Sears from Murphy's assist. Bamford's Middlesbrough have fought back from 3-1 down with 10 men.

Bamford won it.

Quite an achievement for someone ranked 171st in the Championship stats!!

Maybe one of his assists impressed the panel, or maybe it was the other one!!

Murphy has 25 goals and 4 assists.
Bamford has 17 goals and 5 assists.

Murphy has 25 goals and 4 assists.
Bamford has 17 goals and 5 assists.
It's not that uncommon, only once in the last five seasons has the Championship top scorer also been player of the season
In 2013/14 Ross McCormack scored 28 goals, Player of the Year Danny Ings scored 26
in 2012/13 Glen Murray scored 30 goals, Player of the Year Matěj Vydra scored 24
In 2011/12 Rickie Lambert scored 27 goals and was also Player of the Year
In 2010/11 Danny Graham scored 24 goals, Player of the Year Adel Taraabt scored 19
In 2009/10 Peter Whittingham scored 22 goals, Player of the Year Kevin Nolan scored 18

Just the 26th of the season for Murphy this afternoon.

Was an absolute peach of a volley from an ipswich corner - game was just 2 mins old

Ipswich find themselves 2-1 down however...Blackburn all over them

TheOneWhoKnocks

Ipswich need at least three new defenders if they go up this season, which I doubt they will. They have been absolutely shocking at the back any time I have watched them.

Brentford just made it 2-0 , meaning if derby equalise in their game then Ipswich slip out of the playoff places

Seems an odd one ok with Murphy having a better strike rate and not a loanee but a genuine Championship player.

Good interview with Murphy.

Christ, is he that good? Am I missing something here? Rickie Lambert went from Southampton to Liverpool for four million pounds this time last year when he was the same age......and he was a proven goalscorer at the Premier League level.

If Murphy's goals helped them to promotion then it would be money well spent but, yeah, it's serious money for a Championship veteran.

According to RTE Daryl has signed a new contract with Ipswich.

Probably for the best in my opinion. Would a player of his age and past performances have produced what would be expected for a fairly big transfer fee.

He’s all right, it is what it is, I doubt very much that he’ll be back before the international break. I doubt very much he will be involved in the games at international level because he’s still injured. But that gives him a chance to be ready when we come back.

At the risk of sounding (very) harsh this is probably a blessing in disguise I think, unless we get a string of injuries to our other strikers.

But it is a move which could put him in the top flight next season.

This (http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/could-atsu-murphy-lazaar-play-11871493) kind of explains it, although you'd think he'd have been fine for yesterday.

Murphy and Atsu arrived back late in the week from international duty so were not considered for the Rams clash but, having had a few extra days with the squad, the duo - plus Lazaar - could be in line for an appearance at Loftus Road on Tuesday night. However, Benitez will first analyse the condition of those players involved at the iPro Stadium - as well as the fitness of Lazaar, Murphy and Atsu - before deciding which Magpies will travel down to west London.

But all three will be considered - while DeAndre Yedlin, who netted his first United goal off the bench at Derby, could also make his full debut.
