With 22 teams involved this season, the league has been divided into two 11-team Northern and South divisions:

Northern Division:

Athlone Town
Bohemians
Derry City
Drogheda United
Dundalk
Finn Harps
Klub Kildare
Longford Town
Sligo Rovers
St Patrick's Athletic
UCD

Southern Division:

Bray Wanderers
CK United
Cobh Ramblers
Cork City
Galway United
Kerry FC
Shamrock Rovers
Shelbourne
Treaty United
Waterford
Wexford

Fixtures commence next Sunday, with teams playing each other once.

Inrerestingly, all the underage leagues have been rebranded as "Academy Development Programmes", the idea being to place the focus on youth development, and promotion of players to first-team squads, rather than trophies:

I've just noticed a change here... The Irish UEFA Youth League representative will be the winner of the U17 National League and not the U19 Champions.

That kind of makes sense because the u19 team that qualified would likely then be too old for the next season.

Unfortunately from a Galway United perspective this is bad news - our u19s appear to be one of the best in the country but our u17s look like one of the worst!
