Tuesday nite, what a nite to have a game
Anyone know the reasons why it was changed?
it would have been athlones call.If we win the next 2 games we could be heading for 3rd place and the way Sligo are imploding 5 or 6 points with 12 games to go is not a big gap.We need to get out the support big time now lads. The players have done their bit its up to us now the fans to let everyone know how important it is to fill terryland for thursday anf for every home game .Also its time to get the drums on the road lads!!!!!!!

Ya pity we couldn't go to yesterday's game, but i suppose we can't go to all of them. Was there many there?
Also i heard during the week that the game would be changed because the payers had originally been given the week off as it was the cup week.Tbh they should have known the Athlone game would be on that week.

Everyone knew it was going to be replayed on the Cup weekend, apart from whoever gave the players the weekend off  We didn't fix it for Tuesday night.

.. therefore the time and date was fixed by Athlone Town.
The constant chopping and changing of fixtures in the First Division is unacceptable. The behaviour of clubs like ourselves, Athlone, Dundalk, Monaghan and Dublin City re-inforces the perception of the First Division being a pub league.
This perception is possibly true. Four of our last/next six games have been re-scheduled because of :
(a) a concert (possibly unavoidable)
(b) a team changing dates and venues on a whim (Dublin City)
(c) players going to a wedding (GUFC)
(d) players thought they had the weekend off (Athlone)
We also had uncertainty over the Kilkenny KO.
This will be brought up at executive level within our club, it has gone too
far at this stage.
The attendance at the DCFC/GUFC game was reported in the Star as 70.
Sligo Rovers, who have by far the biggest support in the divsion, would never dream of this sort of carry-on. They are probably the only "proper club" in the division, much as it pains me to say it.

...There is too much messin going on and we are no exception.Did anyone hear any proper reason as to why the Dundalk game was brought forward to a Thursday.

.. some of our players are attending a wedding on Friday night and requested that the game be changed.

Not true Patrick. The time and date was fixed by the League. Why on earth would we look to play a home game on a Tuesday night? The fact is your club gave its players the weekend off. We also accommodated your club in moving the recent fixture in Terryland, for a concert that didn't even go ahead in the end! I would look a little closer to home before you start pointing the finger.

.. atfconline. As you quite correctly say, we re-fixed our last home game vs Athlone as we were scheduled to have a concert in Terryland. Athlone Town were very co-operative, unfortunately the concert was cancelled.
You are quite correct. Why in the name of God should this game be played on a Tuesday night ? If I was an official of Athlone Town, I would refuse to play on a Tuesday night.
Madness, inconveniencing both sets of supporters, and Athlone Town FC.
Why did you not tell GUFC to shove it ?

Tuesday night is terrible for matches here in Athlone as a good bit of our support play for local junior clubs and training for them is Tuesdays and Thursdays. So we will be short them.
