Scored tonight, seems to have had a decent enough start in a bad team, hopefully they can stay in the Championship and he can push on…

Is Lyons more comfortable on the left or right? I cant remember which side he played for Bohs and Rovers.......

He’s a right back (or at least that’s where he played for Bohs - may have been different for Rovers). May have played a handful of games on the left but wouldn’t say it’s a legitimate option.

He played LWB for Rovers and was top class. More effective there than on the right for us. Could cut in or go wide and was brilliant at linking up with Gaffney or someone in the centre for one twos to access the box. He's got a leap on him as well so scored a few from corners.

Definitely an option if he keeps improving.

He really stood out for me in Rovers last European campaign. Great to see him doing well.

Same as that, liked he'd found his level. He was always marauding up the left wing without neglecting his defensive duties. Be interesting to see how high/far his career can go.

But with more lads staying home for longer and getting decent European experience the transition gap will be more seamless like Lyons move has been ( and even kelly/mandriou to a lesser extent).

Think Lyons will be the next FB that's called up. While McNamara is having a good season for Millwall he's more defensive compared to Lyons. Playing in a back four you had Lyons making a near post run for his first goal which you'd never be expecting your RB to make. Think the WB role would suit him down to the ground and is comfortable playing on either side.

Would love to see it. To be honest I'm a bit surprised he's adjusted to Championship level so quickly. As good as he was it's still a big step up. He's a bright lad though Andy and he works hard at his game by all accounts.

Agree with this completely, he is the closest we have to a young Seamus Coleman

From the Blackpool forum: "If it was up to me I'd get rid of the lot of them next season bar Lyons. Absolute sh*te..most barely league 1 standard. A complete overhaul needed."

Blackpool are sort of a mad club ~ ~ Always ( or very often anyway ) seems to be something mad going on at Blackpool.

Andy was superb for Bohs as a right-back. Seemed to have taken those performances to Rovers as a LWB (open to correction) and likewise seems to have stayed consistent at Blackpool. An ambitious lad from listening to a few interviews with him during his Bohs time.
Don't recall him either shining (or starting) that often with the IRL 21s but could be wrong.

Would agree with calls that he's likely to be called up by Kenny sooner rather than later, but still doesn't explain why Danny McNamara hasn't been brought into a squad before now.

RE: McNamara and it may be splitting hairs, but he has always struck me as more of a true fullback you’d play in a back four, not really as much of a centre back or wingback. I’m sure he could play as a wingback I just think he’d be fairly limited in terms of contributing to building the attack. Open to correction from those who watch him more.

McNamara played as a right wing back in a 3-4-3 at St Johnstone a couple of years ago and did very well. So I don't think it's that he can't play it as much as he's doing what Millwall want of him by playing deeper for them.

Shame it looks like Blackpool are doomed to League 1,be ideal if somebody in the Championship came in for him,the best place to be for Lyons development I think…..

Starts LB again tonight but a pity that Danny McNamara isn't starting. Would have been good to see both lads battling it out.

I was wondering how Lyons went from 17 appearances and 4 goals in the Championship to only 4 appearances in EFL Leagie 1… sounds like he lost his Dad and is struggling a lot. Thoughts go out to him…

Yeah, his father passed away a few weeks ago. He was the co-founder and president of Mount Merrion. (https://www.dublinlive.ie/news/dublin-news/community-mourning-following-death-beloved-27656534)

He's back. Played the full cup game for Blackpool against Forrest and got himself an assist. Blackpool forum seems to think he deserved MotM. They like him there.

Seems like he got a bit of blame for the Forest winner, not preventing the cross. Just saw some commentary on it (as well as a lot of praise for the assist), haven’t seen the highlights yet myself.

Only going off the Blackpool forum. No mention of the mistake but lots of positivity. I think that's his first full game for months?

Watched the end of the 90 minutes and all of extra time last night and I thought Lyons was excellent during that period. Didn't look a bit out of place against Forest. Was, typically, very good at supporting in attack and found himself in the box on more than one occasion, had a couple of half chances himself too. I don't think you can really blame him for the Forest winner at all, it would be incredibly harsh to point the finger at him.

Good to hear. I read one comment that put it at his feet - from Charlie Adam, BBC 5Live. Delighted that this seems to be a bit of an outlier opinion! Love Andy Lyons and want him to tear it up.

Has done his ACL, that will likely be him out until 2025.

After a strong start his move to England hasn't gone well since for a range of reasons.
