A late goal by captain Cathal O’Sullivan sealed a 3-2 St.Patrick’s Day win for Ireland against the Welsh which would kick-start a three-game unbeaten run for Jason Donohue’s side.
From there they headed to a tournament in Croatia, earning a 0-0 draw with Montenegro before putting Uzbekistan to sword with a 6-0 win. An impressive performance against the hosts saw them edged out 2-1 before they defeated Wales again – this time on penalties after a 3-3 draw.
For the new international season Ireland returned to Croatia and began by beating Cyprus 2-1 thanks to goals from Michael Noonan and Brody Lee.
They put impressive performances against Spain and Croatia heading into their friendly-double header with Poland with confidence.
Poland won the first encounter on spotkicks after the game had ended 0-0 but Ireland won the final game 1-0 thanks to a fine finish from Jayden Umeh.
