There is a competition currently running in the star newspaper, bassically you fill out the form that appears in the star and hand it in at the turnstyle at your eircom leauge match that you attend and your in with a chance of winning tickets to the ireland v france game. It also gives you yhe concession of one free child place with every fee paying adult this part of the offer does not apply to home games of cork city fc

I would like to know the reason behind this it as seems the other 21 el clubs have agreed to this promotion.

We don't need to give away free seats to get reasonable crowds.

ya but it makes the club look like money grabbers.

Would i be right in saying that the club used to pay for away match tickets for fans who travelled to european games.

No. Last year the club bought the tickets in Malmo & then sold them to the fans.

The club has never given me free ticket & i wouldn't expect it.

They did it for the Gothenburg game years ago alright.

This is promoting the league as a whole, ALL clubs should be involved

as I've said elsewhere......

I'm not sure how many extra people it would have attracted to be honest, most likely people who were bringing their kids anyway would have clipped the coupons and saved a few quid, causing the clubs coffers to drop.

While I agree that getting kids into the cross is essential for our mid to long term future, I think it has to be driven by the club, and not by a red-top rag like 'The Star'.

A properly priced family ticket or group scheme to attract a classroom of kids with a teacher makes a lot more sense that the Star's option.

I think all EL clubs are going to make a short term drop in income off of this deal, with little guarentee of long term gain.

Typical City fan moaning. Lennox funds Citys loses every season & still people moan. Sure people moan about paying €13 for a seat at league games when some other clubs charge that for standing.

But we'll still get accused to stealing everyones money! ;)

In fairness, Lennox puts alot of personal money into the club, so you can't begrudge him a fiver can you? Besides, €20 for a Champions League game is excellent, it'd be double that across the water!

FFS. €20 is nothing for a live european game. Go accross the water and see if you can get better value than that. I reckon some people on here like moaning for the sake of moaning. Jeez, you'd swear the club were robbing your piggy bank!!!!! Miserly Fukcs!!!

Wish there was a student rate.

No problem with City raising the prices for the UEFA games.

Only trouble is, Shels might not have been confident of selling many tickets at that price.
By the way, as other posters pointed out, the phrase Lennox greed is an oxymoron. He gives about €3000 every week of the year, that is right, all 52 weeks of the year, to keep the club afloat. When did you last see people queueing up outside Turners Cross offering to take his place? I for one am damn glad to have that generosity around my club. Greed my arse!
