Makes his debut in the 81st minute, replacing Maupay.

Let's hope we look back at last night as the time his career blasted off even if he couldn't fire his team to victory as they were fodder for Bournemouth at that stage anyway.

Deep breaths there Tets.

He’s got a short fuse when it comes this sort of carry on, Crafty. You might be muzzled.

Now that would be bang out of order, this is covered in the legislation we swam hard against the tide for, for Sammon.

He made a balls of one chance I hear.

(Speaking of which: wasn't it Tommy Cannon and Bobby Ball?)

Pity Lampard won’t last much longer, just as Cannon getting some game time

Yeah, he's 19 and a striker and has a few underage apps for us at u19s & 20s. It's not clear what his link is to us, he has 6 PL2 goals this season.

Was unlucky that the 2002 group lost their u19 championship because of covid. He was an u19 a year young, as an u18 before covid hit. And he played for the u20s when they played against the amateurs last year. Himself, Hodge and Leavy were the standouts.

He’s scored a tonne of goals for Everton u18s and 21s over the last 3 years.

Can you name the other 199 Republic of Ireland players with Premier League appearances?

Is it a lot of work to make surnames eligible answers? Spent forever trying different variations of the spelling of Stephen (to give one example)

Sorry, I thought I selected that when I created the quiz. Surnames should work now

Good quiz but I think the time allowed should be pushed out to 30 minutes. 200 names in 20 minutes is 10 names a minute which is nearly impossible to type, even before allowing for thinking time!

Maximum time on sporcle is 25 minutes, so I've changed it to that

So far there's been 106 attempts, and the highest correct answers is 156
Two players have not been guessed by anyone who's taken the quiz

The high score on the quiz is now 180, which is an amazing score
All answers have now been guessed at least once
The average score is 105

Had a second go at it, did much better with the 25 minute time limit, enough time to think about it rather than just firing in as many surnames as I could think of.

Still managed to somehow miss out Kevin Moran and Paul McGrath though!!

122 here. That's frustrating, but every couple of minutes you hit a bunch and it pushes your score up and motivates you to keep going.

Hunt, Doyle, Walters, Obafemi, Lawrence and Carr the main ones I missed. None of them glaringly embarrassing I think! Plenty there I'd never even heard of alright.

First goal for Everton's senior team this morning against Western Sydney Wanderers

(Not sure if this counts as his first competitive goal, they're playing in a tournament that's the equivalent of a preseason friendly)

In some ways it's amazing how often that happens to goalkeepers ~ ~ Surely there must be some way of avoiding this common enough mistake by goalkeepers i.e. Close the open door.

Ryan Lowe (Preston NE) watched Cannon score a late winner v Mansfield in the Papa Johns Trophy match last night. It will be interesting to see whether Cannon is promoted to the first team bench or goes up the road on loan come January.

two goals in injury time for the win, Cannon's is the second goal here
Looks offside but the defender on the far side is playing him on

Generally not a fan of young players with no senior experience taking Championship loans. Especially strikers. Would rather he found a decent League 1 club as a starting point.

Especially a Championship team struggling to put the ball in the back of the net. 18 goals in 21 games so far this season. They're 23rd in the league for goals scored but only two points off Watford in 4th. Fans could well be on his back before a ball is even kicked given they need someone with experience to help keep them in the hunt for a play off spot.

Growing speculation (or websites feeding off each other?) that Cannon could go to Sheffield Wednesday on loan next month. ('The 72' and Football League World, 12 Dec; Yorkshire Live, 13 Dec).

Five goals in five games in the EFL Trophy, against adult opposition, one goal for the senior team in a mini-tournament, seventeen goals before Christmas - has Tom Cannon quietly become one to watch in our search for high quality strikers?

Eirambler
14/12/2022, 12:10 PM
Possibly - I understand that the feeling with Cannon is that he's more physically developed than most young players that come through the academy system, so he should be able to adapt more easily to men's football. He seems to be showing that in his limited opportunities to date.

Hard to get the hopes up too much with a 19 year old who is on the fringes of the first team at a premier league club with just an Irish granny to depend on for that connection. Maybe she makes amazing soda bread.

But sure lookit we'll see.

The rep of Ireland should have used this world cup window to bed in players in a development squad. play against anyone from Latvia to rovers
More options and minutes for the Smallbone and Cannon
I know we would need the agreement of the clubs but why not try it
Better than kenny and Andrews in Qatar imo
