I was wondering how ye think David is getting on this year. He's a good friend of mine and he says he is really enjoying himself and has being playing his best football in a very long time. :)

best of luck for the rest of the season and I hope to see yerselves and Cork fight it out for the title.

OOPS! can someone move this to the Derry forum, please? :o

Forde has been outstanding this season.
Best keeper in the league.

Just hope the teams across the water don't come knocking again.

I agree with the above, Forde is absolute quality and I can think of a few games when he has saved us i.e Shels away. Best keeper I have seen in the league in a while.

Actually speaking to a Derry City director (in spain believe it or not) he seems to think it won't be long before Forde moves to Derry along with his wife, i think he said the only reason he hadn't move yet was because of Forde getting married!!

He's top class, brilliant against Cork City FC ,and maybe he is the one to lead Derry to an incredible but very possible treble? ;)

He made the best save I have ever witnessed in the flesh last night.

Dying minutes of the game against Longford, cracker header, going in at the keepers left hand post. Somehow the bigman got across, right down and managed to flick the ball round the post.................super Keeper :D

Forde unsure of Derry future - elevenaside.com

October 1, 2005

Derry City goalkeeper David Forde admits he is not certain to stay at the club for another season.

Former West Ham United trainee Forde has been an exceptional signing for the Candystripes since joining last year.

But having contributed greatly to Derry’s revival in 2005, he has revealed he may not extend his stay at the Brandywell – although he admits the club’s emergence as one of the top sides in the country, and the possibility of European and Setanta Cup football next season, will make his decision a difficult one.

He told the Irish Sun: “I made a serious commitment this season. I was not the only one. A lot of us did, but we did it because we wanted to be successful.

“I don’t know what I’ll do next year, though. I could sign a new contract, with Derry, or there is also the possibility of returning to college.

“But, you know the way things are going it would be tough to leave the club.

“[The Setanta Cup and European football] is something any player would want to be part of, but I’ll just have to sit down at the end of the year and decide what is best.”

Derry moved to the top of the eircom League Premier Division table with victory over Shelbourne on Friday night.
