He has 3 caps. I can't remember them too clearly myself but probably the couple in Portugal (??) and maybe the Serbia friendly, as I think I heard he was involved in Trap's first match. Open to correction...

I was wrong about Serbia (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/7418887.stm) anyway. That wasn't Trap's first match, the Portugal training was before it so I got mixed up.

He played against-

LigaVitilas (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/7407446.stm) (presumably)
Lagos (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/7409889.stm)

Don't know who else.

3 caps under Kerr: http://www.soccerscene.ie/sssenior/player.php?id=57
I was at the Romania game (Roy Keane's comeback game), he came on and went through the opposing winger. Could have been sent off for that tackle.

Ah thanks tets. Put me out of my misery. I was thinking those training games could hardly count but it never occurred to me that it may have been pre-Trap, even though I heard he is 30:o

I'm not being smart here, but hopefully the FAI have good insurance cos QPR will be claiming the cost of his wages from the FAI cos he was injured on international duty.

Poor fella, and ye know i do partly blame mcshane the donkkey. He got in the way of rowlands who then had to go around him.

It was Miller who first lost the ball, and Rowlands started charging round to get it back. The look on his face when he was carried off, he knew his season, and World Cup, was over.

get well soon!

Yeah, felt so sorry for the guy being carried off. He knew, judging by the look on his face, exactly what it meant. Season over. It was so strange how it happened too

Said that on another thread, am so disappointed for the guy. He got a yellow card shortly before that covering for Miller too. I reckon thats the end of his career to be honest, he looked resigned to the fact too. Shame he never had an extra yard of pace, Ian Holloway said he was the first name on the teamsheet when he was at QPR, would have easily been a Premiership player he said if only he was quicker.

To be fair I expect hundreds of players have got in his way in his career, it's just one of those random things that seem to happen for no reason.

To blame Miller or McShane for the injury is pretty ridiculous.

Freak play and it could have happened at any point. Hope he recovers, but at his age it's going to be a tough road back.

SilkCut

Ah I know I have had a good go at Miller on his thread, but I'm not blaming him for the injury in fairness. Just pointing out what effect making a mistake in football can mean.

Rowland's injury had nothing to do with Miller, McShane or Don Givens.

Always sad to hear about a footballer.

Meanwhile speculation is growing that Martin Rowlands will announce his retirement from the game following a series of knee injuries, the latest sustained in the 30-year-old's first competitive start for the Republic of Ireland against Montenegro.

Firstly I hope he does not have to retire
and secondly I hope all the insurance regarding compensation is in order if he does have to call it a day.

makes you wonder where the reporter got the story from. Maybe Trap told him that players dont normally come back from that sort of injury.

Martin Rowlands joins Millwall on a short-term loan. He's been at QPR for 8 years so you'd hope he'll get the chance to play in the Premier League next season.

He was out for a long time since but Trap seemed to have a lot of time for him before his injury.

Unfortunately, I don't think its likely. I just don't see where he fits in to Warnock's system unless he's going to play in the hole, which could probably only happen if Taarabt moves on. Best of luck to him though.

That's generally the accepted way of playing into someone's system.

Gone to Wycombe (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15068876.stm), on loan, bit of a drop isnt it?

Yeah, but when you consider the last match he started was our Qualifier against Montenegro in October of 2009 its unfortunately not surprising. Really hope he does well there and stays fit has really had an awful time and was looking good to become a regular in the side (instead we got Paul Green) or at least third choice central midfielder. Its only a loan though, if he does well there he could maybe he could get a loan to the Championship in the second half of the season or maybe even break in to the QPR side with some luck.

Sadly can't see him breaking back into the QPR set up, was left out of the squad of 25 and to be honest there were 4/5 players ahead of him that were also left out. Would be great to see him get into a decent championship team in January.

Such a shame as he was playing very well before the Italy match and would have prob been first choice at QPR over the last 18 month if it hasnt been for that injury.
