Apparently, October 17th is the date to mark in diaries as to when licences for the 2023 season will be announced - all the indicators before now were that this would occur in November, but if confirmed, it would suggest that there are no outstanding issues to report.

Probably the earliest they've ever been.

Are Kerry FC the only club that applied for 2023?

The only new club, everyone else still has to go through the procedure, but Limerick were the last existing club to be denied a licence, and that was because they went bankrupt beforehand.

Has the man behind Limerick (can't remember his name. O'Callaghan ?) given up trying to get them back into the league now then ?

Pat O'Sullivan. I don't know if he's still actively pursuing that goal, the last bit of news I can find about Limerick FC was all about underage teams.

They still have teams in some of the underage leagues this season, but Treaty are the only side from the city at U19 level.

Meanwhile, in the WNL, Shamrock Rovers will bring next year's complement up to 11:

We'll all find out on Monday, but the absence of any commentary on the matter in the local press this week would suggest mid-November is more probable after all.

Limerick withdraw from the 2023 underage leagues:

I don't really understand why Limerick FC still exists.

was yer man waiting on a payout in case Ogbene got a move? Presumably it would be very marginal given Limerick was two clubs ago and he was only there a year. (Or is there some other ex-Limerick player who might generate revenue?

Will Treaty United reclaim the Limerick name ?

Will Treaty United reclaim the Limerick name ?

I cant see that happening as he says in the Statement that they are concentrating on their underage non LOI set ups so they arent going away.
His call for unity i presume was him saying to Treaty to invite him back in on some basis and they can use the Limerick name.
Thats a non starter id say so they will keep muddling away as a junior club before he eventually loses interest

There is more than one Limerick name though. You could have Limerick City, Limerick United, Limerick Rovers, Limerick Allsorts etc etc. He doesn't own the use of the Limerick name in all manifestations for football.

They tried to call themselves limerick United or something like that and were pulled up on it. I suppose they could have fought it but they decided they didn't need the hassle. At least that is my memory, maybe one of the limerick/treaty supporters could clarify
