Let no know say UCD don't deserve their place to at least fight to stay in the Premier division. Very amusing result.
Watched a few minutes of derry game - thank god I didn't see the derby last week as I struggle to wonder how Rovers lost to the beard oil bozos..

You may **** off!

I think that ends something like 15 defeats in a row against Dundalk. Great timing

Cue a harps win…..

It’s a strange one for bohs fans though, new team arrives mid season, several loaners **** off and a few regulars are long term injured. Really weird feel atm but a couple of chinks of bright light , the new lads(some), look at leat physically ready, and perhaps the new manager can mould a side from what’s there.
14 I believe under contract for next season.

Badly need to sign someone in the off season who can find the back of the net. We have to be taking our chances if we want to get something out of these types of games.

While Pats were taking 15 points from 5 games, our friends in Dundalk dropped 11 albeit they got 3 handed back by the FAI. But for that they’d already be behind us with an extra game played. The chase is certainly on and has been for a while.

Not easy got unfortunately especially in our league.

Why do yiz think that the walkover win was so important!! t's no shock as we've been in relegation form almost since the break bar a few points picked up here and there. Bit patronising of UCD lads. A Rovers fan should be more concerned about a resurgent Derry than another loss for Dundalk. I ddnt get to see the game but I'll guess at a high defensive line was exploited by younger and faster attack...

Loved that tonight, one of my favourite games in ages. We've stumbled on this real plucky streak of late where we've been able to battle through games and pick up wins. Brilliant performance when down to 10, though it's fair to say Drogheda weren't on it at all tonight, if anything it worked against them as it put more of an onus on them to have to break us down which never looked all that likely (although it didn't feel like that at times in the away end!).

Brilliant win for Pats after playing most of the game with 10. Drogheda were awful going forward and actually looked like the side with a man less throughout. Cotter was excellent for Pats after coming on at half time and Atakayi caused a lot of problems for the Drogs defence with his pace. Darragh Markey has always been a great dribbler with really good close control but his final pass is awful and his goal record through his career is worse than a centre backs despite being an attacking midfielder. Gary Deegan looks like he’s edging ever closer to retirement too, his legs are absolutely gone, so so slow to turn and easy to outpace in general

Disgraceful refereeing cost Waterford a deserved point at the RSC. First half was poor with not many chances. Cork took the lead 10 minutes into 2nd half and 2 minutes later ref sent off Tunmise Sobowale for a nothing incident which the Cork player made a meal of. Waterford finished strongly and sub Raul Uche headed in a corner to level it on 90 minutes.
Then the ref gives Cork a ridiculous penalty which no Cork player even claimed for following a free kick into the box.
Keating put it in off the post and Cork fans invaded pitch to celebrate. The referee should be investigated. Anyone who saw the game online even a Cork fan said it was not a sending off or a penalty.

the red was correct. thought it was harsh on first viewing but sobowale elbowed bolger in the head, its a stone wall red. idiotic from sobowale.

No question that's a red card. Even if Bolger goes down easily its stupid by the Waterford player. Right in front of the 4th official too.

“””Are the FAI desperate to get Cork city up to the premier with dodgy decisions both Galway and Waterford have had red cards against them at Turners cross in first few min this season“”

And another red last night for Waterford 🤷*🤷

We had a genuine goal ruled out last week for no reason, Keating was suspended for that game for a red card received in Derry that the "fouled" player stated afterwards wasn't a card. Same ref for those two games by the way

And last nights red card was clearly a red card.
If Galway want to get promoted they should try winning some games. Their last league win was July 22nd. 6 points from 6 games. Has nothing to do with refs and everything to do with results.

Whatever about the red card the penalty at he end was a joke after Cork had blown their lead against 10 men

Having seen it again it's not clear it's an elbow but he definitely pushes him over aggressively so can see why a red was given but the penalty decision is unbelievable. I've seen 2 angles on it and still can't see where the foul is.

I think the penalty looks harsh and I'd be annoyed if it was against us. It is hard to tell given the footage is poor. I've seen a couple of clips but neither really shows what happened. Looks like the striker grabs Gilchrist and maybe lifts him a little. Its probably a foul but theres a dozen of those a game that don't get given. I will also point out it was right in front of the ref. He had a better view of the incident than anyone else. You could call it clever play by Gilchrist. I'll take it. We've had plenty of decisions go against us this season and especially in recent weeks.

Dundalk were rubbish most of the second half v UCD and deserved to lose, first defeat there in 11 years.

Euro spot should have been in the bag weeks ago, now its straight battle with Pats for 3rd, away form / results have also been mostly dreadful this year (only 3 wins), 6 games left, just glad 4 of them are at home, including a key one v Pats.

Plenty of Harps fans seem to have turned on the Cult of Ollie but he seems untouchable. a Half fit Jack Byrne is taking the **** and Harps only response is to kick them or stick a leg out.

don't think many if any Hoops would revel in your current teams position Nigel, but you looked really poor and disorganised last night, and it doesn't look good for your team mate.
If you do exit, I'd be confident you can make it back the following year, but getting players in could be difficult.[/QUOTE]

Didn't expect to get anything from the game, but nobody goes into any game expecting a hammering from a side who barely got out of first gear.

One thing we've always took pride in Ollie Horgans team have been organisation, a tight defence, and hard to beat. We've had none of those this year.

At times, there's some decent football, decent passages of play between the likes of Connolly, McNamee, Mihaljevic and co, but at the back we're as leaky Leo Varadkars press office these days.

Yeah hate to pile on but it's as poor a harps side as I've seen. The signings at the start of the year were a bit off the wall and it all looks very disjointed. McNamee looked very frustrated yesterday. As you say you look decent going forward but it's a real mess at the back. The peno was so clumsy and unnecessary. Good luck to harps anyway. If you do go down I hope it's not for long.

For us it was great to see Farrugia get a few goals. He's starting to look very dangerous. Still defensively suspect but he's learning another new position now as we have him on the right.

Also very encouraging to see Graham Burke come on and look sharp. It was all a little bit too easy but they are the kinds of games we need to get him and Jack up to speed. We will need them both to hit the high notes to stay ahead of Derry with Duffy looking lethal. It's been a while since I'd have said he was the best player in the league but from what I've seen since he's come back he is right up there again.

Just looking at the stats from Derry's 1-0 win over Sligo tonight, LiveScore has it down as 5 shots on target and 8 off target for Derry and have Sligo down as having 0 shots on or off target. Is that accurate? Was it really that dominant?

Nah Nah Nah Nah

We were awful but Mata should have equalised in injury time with our only real effort of the game. Didn’t really think Derry were that good either but certainly better then us.

Aye, pretty much. I'd be disappointed with the lack of decent shots we had, mind.
We made hard work of that tonight. Would say it was a typical performance from us this season. Creating lots, taking very few. However, we did keep a clean sheet, and we've been doing that a lot more recently. One two conceded in the last nine games, as pointed out tonight.
Been saying that we usually score every game, but usually concede. Can see a definite improvement, I'm a big fan of clean sheets.

Sligo weren't great at all, especially compared to our earlier matches this season. They were deep, and played out from the back. However, that meant by the time they'd got it to midfielders, they were still in their own half.
In the second, they did great a few chances, and really should have tested Maher.
Maybe they were a bit tired? Not sure.

We weren't great, but look it, it's a win, and it's a match we would likely have drawn previously. Keeps us further ahead of Dundalk and Pat's. At this stage of the season, I'll take it. Though we'll need to reach another level if we're to progress in the cup on Sunday.

I thought we were outstanding for the first 30mins. Our problem is getting the 2nd goal and other teams knowing that we go to pot the further the game goes on. The only game in which we finished strongly at home lately was the draw v rovers.
