Comfortable win in the end for Wexford as three second-half goals secured the three points for the home side. Wexford started with the lively Jess Lawler up front and began with Maeve, Della, Nicola, Lolly, Edel, Aoibheann, Rossi, Becky, Kylie, Ellen and Jess. Unlike the previous cup-tie between the same two teams, it was Wexford who dominated the first half and eventually created a number of chances. DLR were without the former Wexford defender, Jess Gleeson, who was injured. Wexford held onto the ball early on although perhaps moved it a little too laterally on occasions and the only real effort on goal by Wexford in the first twenty minutes or so was a lob by Kylie Murphy which was held by Eve Badana in the Waves goal. The first Wexford goal, when it came, was on 23 minutes largely due to the magic of Ellen Molloy who collected the ball on the right wing, drifted inside two DLR defenders and drilled a low shot into the corner of the DLR net to give Badana no chance and it was 1-0. Nicola Sinnott then headed over the bar from a Wexford corner and Kylie Murphy had a far post chance to increase Wexford’s lead. Maeve Williams in the Wexford goal was called into action for the first time on the half-hour mark when some sloppiness at the back by Wexford gifted DLR a shot on goal but Williams was able to gather cleanly. Kylie Murphy then converted a cross by Becky Watkins but the goal was ruled out for offside. A good catch by Badana from an Ellen Molloy free completed the half and Wexford were deservedly in front at half-time by a single goal to nil.
