Conceived in Glasgow, born in Dublin, brought up in Galway and given an Italian (third) Christian name - no wonder I'm scattered. :D
I'll take the Italian "connection" though although the way things are going for Gordon Strachan, you know................... :D

The GAA isn't based on county of birth or that of your decendants.
You can pretty much play for any county.
Think it comes down to owning a house in that county.
Don't think you have to own a property or even live or work in the county..
But you do have to have some connection to the county.. You grew up there or played club there, parents are from there etc.. Out of Loyality most players usually stick to their own counties..
Plenty of the young fellas on the Galway team don't own any property and I used to work with a Laois hurling and Football county player and he Lived and worked in Galway yet played for Laois!!
To answer the Question
What other nations could you play for?
Answer is none
Irish through and through.. could only and would only play for Ireland..
In GAA would only play for Galway :D
sure why would I need or want to go elsewhere, Galway being all Ireland champions and all :D

Soccer - only Ireland.
GAA - Kerry (originally from there, though was born in Limerick; think that qualifies me for Kerry?), Tipp (1 parent and 3 grandparents), Limerick (1 grandparent), Dublin (1 parent and currently living here).

Just Ireland in football, any foreign lineage is a very long way back.
In GAA I qualify for Dublin by birth, and Tipp and Wicklow through lineage.

Ok this will take some beating I believe
1/ Granny on Dad's side born in Valparaiso , Chile qualifying me for CHILE
2/ Her husband (grandad) born in Co. Armagh qualifying me for NORTHERN IRELAND... as does mother (Born in Belfast) and her Ma (ditto)
3/ Grandad on Ma's side born in Cairo Egypt thus qualifying me for EGYPT
4/ Born in Dublin, qualifying me for the REPUBLIC OF IRELAND.
Now on another related issue. Anyone entitled to a UK passport is equally eligible to play for Wales, Scotland and England as I understand it .......
OK Bogball connections... Armagh you already twigged, Dublin ditto
Grandad ( the Egypt born one) played Minor hurling for Antrim( raised in Belfast).... But Antrim hurler's father was from Offaly and his mother from County Cork...

My mum's dad was originally from Mayo, born and raised.
My dad's mum is from Germany and he was born over here. Now I currently live over here too.
I was born and raised in England.
So just a standard Germany, England and Ireland for me.

... I'm not including the wee six here - mums from Fermanagh - as I'll only include real country's in the list ;) :pThen why include Ingurlund and Scotland? ;) My other options are Spain, although even if I was good enough at anything, Spain doesn't recognise dual nationality except latin American countries and I'm not prepared to ditch my Irish nationality. Love to be called up by Sven, though. It would be a great honour to be the first Ingurland international (sic.) to score a hat-trick...in his OWN net! :D :D
Footy - only Ireland
GAA - Westmeath and Galway
AFAIK the GAA rule used to be that you can play for whatever county
you were born in, what ever county your living/working in or whatever
county your father was born in. Dont think mothers or grandparents
come into it.

Just Ireland and Cork.
Although a sorry lack of talent means I still wouldnt get a game for anyone else even if I qualified!

You wouldn't be eligable for a call up from them, you have not had your name plastered across the papers in some sordid scandal, or got some gambling or coke addiction so that rules you out of ever getting a call up for them. ;)
