a small variant to the 'best/worst band names' thread. Best song titles...
There is a light that never goes out (The Smiths)
Some girls are bigger than others (The Smiths)
Last night I dreamt that somebody loved me (The Smiths)
Girlfriend in a coma (The Smiths)
Nocturnal me (Echo & The Bunnymen)
Bring on the dancing horses (Echo & The Bunnymen)
The killing moon (Echo & The Bunnymen)
Empire state halo (Echo & The Bunnymen)
Bela Lugosi's dead (Bauhaus)
Wait for the black-out (The Damned)
Motorcycle emptiness (Manics)
The masses against the classes (Manics)
If you tolerate this your children will be next (Manics)
Roses in the hospital (Manics // pure Richey stuff :D )
Freedom of speech won't feed my children (Manics)
Cryptorchid (Marilyn Manson)
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (Black Sabbath)
Children of the grave (Black Sabbath)
The freezing moon (Mayhem)
Bitter sweet symphony (The Verve)
Where the streets have no name (U2)
The church-bells and the razorblades (Silke Bischoff)
Hysteria (Muse)
Butterflies and hurricanes (Muse)
Where the wild roses grow (Nick Cave)
i like titles that are either bizarre enough to make you curious for the entire song (Manics and Morrissey are class in that) or just titles that breath mystery or melancholy.

Great one indeed ! "Cemetary gates" has something melancholic-dark as well, and what about "A rush and a push and the land is ours" ?

royal trux's "The United States Vs. One 1974 Cadillac el Dorado Sedan" has a certain quality that betrays what an absolute monster of a song it actually is
From one of the best bands of all time, German 'rock' band Can -
"Turtles have legs too". ;) Amazing band but wierd, apparently the greatest influence on Pink Floyd when they were starting out.

The title asked for original. Shít band, shít song, but the title always makes me smile. My apologies for posting. :(

Fair enough but i wouldn't say that it was all that original. Have a look at some of the song titles they and their ilk have besides. They really need to get out more, poor lads.
I suppose Underworlds Born Slippy is the most original, says it all about the scene

Would also mention the album titles as well, 'Trouble over Bridgewater' being a particular favourite of mine :D

Eels usually come up with nice titles as well... Their best ones IMO are:
Woman driving, man sleeping
Cancer for the cure
Last stop: this town (a very soft title for a song about somebody dying after unsuccesfully fighting a disease)

Best one I've ever seen was Anal Cúnt's "I Snuck A Retard Into A Sperm Bank". I nearly fell over laughing when I saw it!

Love the Eels - seen them live in Vicar Street earlier this year. My favourite song titles by them are 'Going to Your Funeral' and 'Climbing to the Moon'.

The Pixies, Nimrod son, ''You are the son of a mother ******'', as well as ''you are the son of incestious union''
Said that to a manager once at work, he didn't understand what incestious meant, well he was a Hertfordshire hillbilly.

Yeah, though in fact the original Eels (line-up of E, Butch and Tommy) is long gone. In fact Eels to day is Mark Oliver Everett solo, using a different name than in his early solo years.

Oh a Pixies fan, as my username suggests I am also one ;) Going to see them on August 23rd :)

Yeah I know that, don't worry I'm a REAL fan not a "Oh that Goddamn right it's a beautiful day song was good" fan... I think E was right to stick with the Eels name as it is more familiar to people.
