I see from the programme that Leon McSweeny is off to leicester later this summer.

I know this was a rumour a good while ago seems the club kept that quiet? Was only a small piece in the programme too.

Anyone want to guess how much City get for him if anything? I wouldn't be surprised if Leicester got 1 youth player thrown in per season for their 50k :(

Maybe City will get a new set of tracksuits & a few footballs thrown in?

eh where did you see that rebel..must have missed that bit?

wouldnt blame Leon though...its not as if the club were giving him a chance to play...thats what i cant understand ..if the boy is good enough to go to lecie$ter city even on a trial then surely be to god he is good enough to dislodge the likes of "figo" hartigan or even athony "rivaldo" buckley

Of course then as soon as they go over to engaland then they automatically get U21 call ups !

baffled:confused:

AFAIK he's out of contract and had always intended going over once he finished the leaving cert.

yea but that still doesnt explain my argument..if he is good enough to go over to leceister even on trial then surely he should have been given a chance with us ...

You could say the same about Gamble last year. The only suggestion I can make is that management felt they were too young/inexperienced/lightweight for league action.

Maybe i'm wrong but wasn't one of the reasons for Leicester "deal" that City would get money for players out of contract?
Also, doesn't the new UEFA/FIFA rules dictate that transfers of all players under 21 or 23 have to now involve a 'development' fee for the club that nutured the player & spent money training him?

Should the club not be negotiated receiving a fee for the player then? Or maybe becuase of the Leicester "deal" City will be thrown a nominal fee + a few freebies to Filbert St next season?

I'm probably just a cynic..... :(

I said from the word go, it was a bad idea, and I think this is the kind of thing we're gonna see more and more of. NO TO LEICESTER! And, if McSweeney is so good, why wasn't he given a run in the city first team last season, when we couldn't score to save our lives?!
