Anyone see the goals last night?

5 superb goals + the trademark Zidane dragback.

Surely favourites for the WC if there were any doubts before. Would winning the WC make France the greatest team ever?

5 of the best goals I've seen in years. They obviously pi$$ed on Scotland. It's just a pity BBC didn't show more of the game.

France must be the favourites for the World Cup.

No way! Brazil 1970 aren't regarded by just about every analyst going as the best team ever for nothing. That Brazil team won the country its 3rd World Cup, more than anyone else at that time, are you seriously suggesting that France 1998 could beat Brazil 1970 all things being equal. Maybe a better idea would be to wait until the dust has settled after the World Cup and reserve any judgements/opinions until then

Should this French team retain the World Cup in the summer I think it will be confirmation that they're the best since that Brazil side, but whether you'ld consider them better....
