Steua seem fairly confident that they will go through anyway, after the first draw when they found out that they would play Shels/Glens someone from their club mentioned it being a `lucky draw` or something along those lines. Just after reading this on elevenaside :

quote of the day
"I think maybe they play their football on the second floor, so we must try to play the game on the first floor." - Steaua Bucharest manager Oleg Protasov casts a slight towards Shelbourne’s style of play ahead of next week’s Champions League encounter.

someone posted this on shelsweb. I think its a very good point

22 Romania 2.625 2.166 4.333 5.500 0.333 14.957 3/ 3
23 Croatia 4.375 2.750 3.625 3.000 0.000 13.750 3/ 3

and they think they are so much better the Split??
Should be a nice handy one for us

What date does your league start back?
Sure split are top of their league again this year winning the first game 6-0.

Looking forward to this now

There isnt much in it between Spliit and Steau. Were a better team than last year as well ! So its going to be pretty tight

Did he even watch them against Glens?

Hopefully he watched the Bray game..

If we play like that we will lose 5 or 6 nothing at home. I really dont know what team will turn up these days. they have a ability but they just wont use it that much.

Too sleepy at the back for me too. Even if we did beat Glentoran 6-2 we gave them too many chances especially in the second leg. Maybe it was because we went ahead but that cant be a valid excuse.

I hope the good shels turn up on Wednesday. If they do then I think we can get a positive result but keeping them from scoring away goals will be the main aim, we just leak too many this year.

I've said it before but Shel$ have too many experienced players in the comfort zone on long enough (by eL standards) contracts. The eL is too small for that & all teams need mix of young up & coming hungry players.

How many Shel$ players are out of contract at the end of the season?

I'm in France on my holidays. I looked through the channels on the tv and found a Romanian one (TVR International (http://www.tvr.ro). I went to the website and found that they're showing Shels v Steau live on Wednesday - sweet! :)

The TV platform is TPS Star, and the channel is 296 (for anyone else that might be in France and has access to TPS Star digital TV).

Shels obviously aren't the favourites (which could be an advantage), but I think they have a fighting chance. However I do think they need a good result at home because they won't have much chance winning away.

Best of luck on Wednesday by the way lads. Hatchets buried for a few days, and let us all enjoy a good contest. After Shels' recent poor run of form in the EL, it would be a tonic for the club to make an impact again this year in Europe. COME ON SHELS!
