Hard to believe someone beat us really did not think anyone was capable of that. I suppose football is like war and even nazi Ukraine will win some battles in their fight against the liberation but the strongest will prevail. 1-1 draw against Drogs beat UCD then we are back on track.

So, not a serious answer then?
Have to say, Olander was asked a reasonable question and gave a considered reply, and for you to come back with a churlish retort like that kind of undermines your credibility and your side of the argument a fair bit.

Considering he didn't directly answer the question he was asked, at all, then I don't see how my response was anything other than accurate.

But then again, any excuse to have a pop at Harps from yourself too is expected.

I hope the players are of similar thinking, just to keep the title chase interesting for a a few more weeks. Dundalk being home from home on Monday is no banker but would be a help to your cause.

I suppose I have an axe to grind with Harps too so? Rubbish.

It would be like a Galway United fan coming on here saying we play a fantastic style of football under John Caulfield, we don't, it's route one stone age stuff, at least most of us will admit that though.

Year in year out Finn Harps are at the top end of the disciplinary tables with the most reds and yellows, I suppose that's just a coincidence. Yeah, you never quite addressed that point though, did you? It must the the FAI-lead conspiracy against poor auld Ollie Horgan, the guy that picks up a yellow card in almost every game and gets sent off multiple times every season - which obviously sets a great example for his players, it's hard to understand why they lack discipline at times...

Horgan is a good fit for Harps. They've always been a cynical and dirty team under him. Nobody wants to travel to Ballybofey and it's not hard to see why. Tough, well organised team, a cabbage patch pitch that suits Harps, and coming up against a team that always leaves the boot in.

Off my head Mark Coyle, Damien McNulty, Keith Cowan, Ciaran Coll, Kosovar Sadiki, Dave Webster are just a few of the usual suspects for Harps over the years.

I dont think Harps are dirty as such but they are a team that are always playing to stay in the league and on a budget where they cant sign Jack Byrne so id see them more as Burnley tough rather than Wimbledon in the crazy gang days dirty if you get the distinction.
More a...we need to fight for every ball then we need to kick people.
In todays non contact sport days that approach picks up yellows galore while not being dirty per se

They've had plenty of kickers over the years (a few listed above)

They've been in the Premier Division for the last few years, but they were the exact same under Horgan when they were yo-yoing up and down from the First to Premier Division also.

None of the other sides that have flirted with promotion/relegation regularly would be in the same category as them. You have to hand it to Horgan though, he deserves credit, they have a great spirit. Teams don't want to face them, they're not a side that anyone would relish coming up against, especially not on a very poor pitch in Ballybofey. They have been effective over the last few years.

How did he not answer the question? You're not really making any points at all in your defence here. You're just saying "You're wrong" and leaving it at that, which clearly doesn't help.

I'd see them as more Wimbledon than Burnley to be honest. (Fun fact - Burnley hold the record for most successive Premier League games without a red card - 120 until Nathan Collins was sent off last month)

But whichever way it is, there's no problems in it. It takes all kinds to make a league, and teams should play to their strengths, which Harps are certainly doing.

But if you support a physical side, then complaining about referee bias every time a player gets sent off gets a bit tiresome.

I don't see enough of Harps one way or the other to have much of an opinion how dirty (or not) they are but, for whatever little it's worth, it's amused me here for YEARS how one otherwise insightful poster seems to have never ever seen a positive refereeing performance against Harps.

Watching that game on Friday, I just knew we had it in us to concede yet another late goal, even against 9 man Harps. We are so brittle mentally, that the players worry about it too and the other teams sense it when they play us. All is not well down in Dalyer… The next 2 games could spell the end of Long and Croly.

It was a strange second half, you could easily have scored a couple more but the longer it went on the more you seemed to retreat deeper, still didn’t expect an equaliser, especially with 9 men….

You'd have to assume if bohs drop points against shels and then lose to Rovers that will be curtains for Long. On the flip side beat Shels and then Rovers and that should see Long last for another good while, no?
The last Derby match was the most passive I've seen bohs in a long time -You need some ba€tards in your team by the looks of it.
Should be an entertaining game tonight against dundalk, hopefully they are a bit braver than Pat's in trying to come out and play football-Fridays game was dull as dishwater.

So I think it's safe to say this league is unpredictable

Damien Duffs Shelbourne seem to be making an excellent argument for knocking down Tolka Park :) 1 point from 6 games now.
Any chance you could give Long a contract extension ??

I couldn't believe Waterford gave him the job in the first place.
Relegated a side which shouldn't have been relegated , then got promoted unconvincingly with a side that should have won easily, all the time playing Shocking.
With the budget Waterford have you need to cut as soon as possible and get a manager in who has an earthly of winning the playoffs.
They have a whole season to find a way of playing but with Morris you have no chance

Pats have been awful today, getting the result was the main thing given the recent run of form but the performances are on a worryingly downward trajectory. The lack of a midfield is becoming more and more of an issue and it seemed obvious that it would even in the pff-season. Still and all, beat Harps at home on Friday and somehow we're still going to be holding 3rd spot.

The commentary were making a big deal about the foul for the penalty being outside the box, seemed in to me but I'd be more up in arms over it actually being a foul. McCormack seemed to buy it.

You’ve been listening to too much Shane Robinson. Pats were poor in the second half on Friday, but I don’t think it was due to lack of bravery.

Very poor again today against UCD. Blessed to get the three points really. Didn’t look capable of break8n* UCD down until a penalty and an own goal. We need to start playing better. Don’t know how Mark Doyle is getting so many minutes. He’s been very poor.

Just talking to them and they said they figured it was outside the box watching the replay.

Them's the breaks at the bottom though

First win in Carlisle grounds since 2015 when Aymen Ben Mohamed scored in 1-0 win. Our record against them normally is atrocious.

Speaking of the devil the quality of Brays stream was terrible you could barely hear the commenators and dont get me started on the camerawork!

Waterford have only 1 point from their last 3 home games and could be in 5th tonight and are 9 points behind leaders Cork City so not where we expected to be and a lot of fans already want a change in manager.
Today was a better performance but still no points. Great goal from Healy to put Cork 1 up early on. Phoenix Patterson scored a super goal to level it in 2nd half but a few minutes later Gilchrist headed in a corner for what proved to be the winner.

Rovers full value for the 1 nil, Dundalk came for a point with Hoooooban and McMillan on the bench but i always felt it was just a matter of time before the goal came as its hard to defend for 90 minutes
Beautiful through pass from Jack which Danny was able to tuck away with his first touch
Rovers starting to look very solid at the back again and Jack was picking out some nice passes, hopefullly he is coming into form.

With injuries and schedule I think the dice was rolled to keep it tight and maybe nick a goal. Bradley, Hoban and McMillan on late was last ditch stuff. For all the ambition in the world ye have to be pragmatic and playing a much better and experienced side ye have to give to gain and hopefully thats 3 points against Shels on Friday if not 1 tonight.

Derry with two very winnable games and Rovers with two tricky ones.
I'd settle for still being 6 points behind after the weekend.
Bohs, Harps, Shelbourne UCD and Drogs all playing each other so will be an interesting weekend in terms of teams putting themselves in position to look up not down as such.
Big weekend for Waterford in Division 1 playing Galway and Cork on both of whom they have already lost ground.

Well Wow, that was unexpected. Derry droping 5 points to Shels and Drogs and Rovers getting maximum 6 points against Pats and Dundalk
Some weekend for the Hoops

Rovers very polished tonight, some fantastic passing and really should have won by more. Jack Byrne was class this evening. Emakaku's best off the bench performance his direct running with the ball was a joy to watch from the top of the South Stand, any chance of another couple of thousand tickets for next Friday night please.

A great point against the mighty Derry tonight, delighted with that, derry have a great squad and we battled hard with some great saves by Long (super keeper - shame he’s only on loan - serious talent). 6 games unbeaten for Drogs, Doherty deserves credit considering it’s basically a new squad (or as near as).

If we keep fighting for every point we should be ok this season, long way to go but so far so good.

It's starting to look fairly grim for us alright. Had a lot of hope for us coming into the season, but it's just not happening for us. Down an awful lot of players today through injury and suspension, but even at that, we could be there until next week and not manage to score.

Referee had a good game though.

Would agree with this. I thought we played well, on the front foot, for the first 60 minutes or so. From then on it was all Derry, I'd say fitness and overall strength of Derry went a long way in taking control of that game, there's some big guys in that team.

Some good saves from Long alright especially the one in the first half. If he continues like that i won't complain about the amount of times he booted it for a throw in from kick outs.

Looked like a big crowd in too for a Monday evening.

Onwards and upwards.

Robbery in the Markets Field, as Wexford were better for pretty much the whole game, and could have had more goals. Then their centre-half horrendously misjudges a punt downfield by the keeper, and Armshaw is in on goal and taken down, and we score an injury-time penalty.

Great result, but were are so limited and lacking creativity. Wexford were actually really impressive up front. Doherty and Corcoran combined really well, lots of lovely intricate passing and movement that deserved better.
