Very well done Shels.
Killed off the game without stretching yourselves, that was the best I've seen you play this year, 3rd and 4th goals last night were excellent.
Here's hoping Longford and ourselves can go make it a clean sweep (of course you'll have Steaua at home before that won't you?)

Here's thoseleague rankings (http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/method3/ccoef2006.html) now. Only country with four wins from four! :) Matched last year's performance (results wise) already too.

but you can't deny that we made a great noise in Glentoran.
.
Ya you could hear live on RTE shouts of 'ya fcuking feinan B**t**d's' from them last night..
Great win by shels totally deserved Crowe and Byrne playing a blinder again... Should have been more but for a few sitters fluffed, but sure it doesn't really matter when your 4-1 up...
and I thought their crowd sounded very well :D

Talking about nicey nice. I am very excited about next week with Cork and Longford. I have verything crossed for them to win. Full support behind them. As for shels, it was great to see us win a euro tie ages before the end. It was just great to see. I know it was a part-time team etc but as was mentioned it was the team we were recently. 4 wins from 4. Lets make it 6 out of 6 !!! :) COME ON CORK and LONGFORD!!

Well done Shells. A great goal by Crowe and another great performance, doing the eircom league proud.
One disappointing thing about the match was the behaviour of certain Glentoran fans. When Jayo took the peno, scarves were thrown at him (ok, they didn't get very far) and then towards the end of the game someone with a Northern accent referred to Dean Delaney as "you Fenian *******".
But 6-2 is great. What's the biggest winnig margin by an eircom League team in Europe, anyone?

Do away goals count extra in these qualifying rounds?
It would appear not if the following report is factual.
I was checking out the soccer reports on sportinglife.com about the games last night and I came across this game.
Kairat won the first leg 2-0 at home, this report is from the 2nd leg.
"Artmedia Bratislava who beat Kazakhstan's Kairat Almaty 4-1 for a 4-3 aggregate win. It was a dramatic match with goals from Balazs Borbely and Daniel Tchur scoring for the Slovakian side to level the aggregate scores. When Andrey Bogomolov scored a stoppage time goal for Kairat it looked as though the Kazakhs would progress but Jan Kozak's spot kick took the match into extra time. In the last seconds of the extra period Pavol Stano netted the decider."
I don't know what that is on about. As far as I know that game finished 2-0 and the rest of the goals came in extra time.

Yes you are quite right, the Sporting Life report on that game was full of errors.
Normality returns.

8-1 by Rovers against some Luxembourgese crowd in the late 70s, I think. Also 6-0 by Rovers against an Icelandic team in 1982.

For the record, 7-0 (3-0 away, 4-0 home) against Fram in '82.

Great to see an EL team outclassing European opposition, it's been a long time since an EL team has had a really comfortable win. I know they scored four but I don't think Shels took enough advantage of the possession they had and I think they'll have to make better use of the chances they get against Steaua.

Both sets of fans were in the worst stands for making noise.

we keep good company!
The same can't be said for our opposition though.

Sky Sports text gave a crowd of 6,000.
I would say more like somewhere between 7-8,000. It was definitely the right idea giving the away fans the Ballybough end or they would have had to turn away a good few people.

What does Tolka hold? I'd say there was a good bit of room at either end of the Riverside (I was in the middle so hard to tell) and there were some empty spaces in the old stand too.

Exactly. The sooner we get out of the Drumcondra End the better.

Around 10,000, somewhere between 2,000 and 3,000 empty seats there I would have guessed, espically as sections of the new stand were over crowded.

It's a pity really because it looks very well, it's a perfect size for Shels' singing support and all the flags around it look class.

I would have said more like 4,000-5,000 from TV. Main stand 60-75%% full max (blocks almost empty at Ballybough end) and Riverside fairly sparse. Other two presumably full.

Riverside was about 40-45% full, Main Stand looked 90% full but hard to tell when I was in it. The half stand with the Brigoid Dearg was packed to the rafters and Glens stand was 95% full, just a little empty bit at the end past the stewards.

I don't want too stop this attendance thing you lot are having but we(Shels) won a Champs Lge game 6-2 on Aggregate last night :D

It was great when he scored,he came straight over to the New Stand to celebrate

Crowe was outstanding and got an outstanding goal, he seems so much more settled in now. You can tell by his body launguage he's enjoying his football alot more than he was at the start of the season and that's reflected in his performances.

Sure they were only a part-time team of plumbers & barmen ;)
