I am finding it easier this time around. I definitley think that the Allen Carr book was worth reading. I've tried many times before and found it hell. Early days yet but so far so good

the worst is over now .
& bet your a lot better off both health wise and pocket wise !!! :D

There's no such thing as an occasional smoker/ weekend smoker etc. Ask
I personally think a few sociable J's is different to a 20-25 a day smoker. Makes up far less of their routine.

I don't want to put this topic into dodgy ground but the few sociable Js is is my problem concerning giving up smoking. Have given up the fags before, usually lasting between 2 and 7 weeks. However, even a couple of draws of a J (even rolled using herbal baccy) and I'm craving again. I know the answer is to give up both :( but I'm not sure I'm ready for that even though I'm desperate to give up the fags. I suppose my question is, are there any ex smokers (and I mean proper 20 a dayers) who have managed to successfully give up and still occasionally partake of the occasional jamaican woodbine?

PP, believe it or not I am a trained stop smoking adviser (i.e the medical world allowed me to prescribe NRT, what sort of world are we living in when I am let lose with any sort of medical pad :eek: .) I tend to agree with you about NRT, particularly the inhalers which I used. They would keep you thinking about smoking all the time so rather then breaking the psychological addiction you are, in fact, keeping it going.
It is considered that NRT is better then cold turkey - 20% give up rate as opposed to 2% but both of these fall well sort of the 80/90% rate that you suggest Alan Carr + Hypnotherapy has, yet these types of methods are rarely mentioned in the Stop Smoking Advisor training. It does just seem like the pharmaceutical industry hitting upon another big money making scheme and gretting the NHS to ram it down people's throats.

I lasted three months with NRT but now have been back on them for four months.

In the past when I have used NRT I found that when I stopped using it I went straight back to craving cigs as bad as ever. Now I know it was a craving for nicotine not cigs and that NRT had not weaned me off it. It only replaced one form of getting my fix with another.

i

of coarse but if you are smoking hash you should stop its crap if you saw what went into it to make the base, get some weed , weed should nt be smoked in j's but in pipes or bongs this also while making it twice as strong cuts out the tabacco alltogether .

Not for the first time I am attempting to kick the habit. I've been off them for 3 days now but I am really suffering. I have used the patches before but found that once I stopped using them I went back on the smokes. This time I'm trying it cold turkey. If anybody has any tips or advise on how to keep off them it would be much appreciated.

Off them now for over 11 months. This is my third time in 17 years giving them up and so far this is the longest. I went to a hypnotist and it worked. Really good. It certainly wasn't as painful as going cold turkey and it seems to work on a lot of people. Best of luck it will be worth it in the pocket, your outlook on life (all the positive vibes for doing something good for yourself) and of course your health. Literally no more wheezing running for that bus.
