Glentoran defender Colin Nixon is hopeful his side can repeat last season’s historic away win over Finnish side AC Allianssi and steal a place in the second qualifying round of this season’s Uefa Champions League.

Nixon was his side’s hero in Finland 12 months ago, firing the winner to help Glens to their first ever European win on European soil.

A year on, following last week’s 2-1 defeat to eircom League champs Shelbourne at the Oval, lightning must strike twice for the Irish League title-holders if they are to have any further interest in Europe this season.

But Nixon is looking to last year for inspiration as he prepares for Wednesday’s big game at Tolka Park.

Anything is possible when you believe. Nicky also has been around long enough to know anything can happen and has seen us win from further behind, although Shels will be the toughest test yet. However, it is more than possible. The Glens will be better and have learnt from last time.

C'mon the Glens. :ball: :)
