Stuffing for Wexford on the scoreboard in Ferrycarrig tonight as a very effective Treaty side scored more or less every time they got the ball in the Wexford area. In contrast, Wexford played reasonably well going forward but couldn’t convert any of the many chances they created other than directly from a corner. Wexford started with Hunt, Cleary, Crowley, Davis, Dobbs, Considine, Corcoran, Byrne, Groome, Friel and Fitzgerald. An important injured absentee was Jack Doherty. Although Treaty had an early shot a couple of yards wide, it was Wexford who impressed during the first twenty minutes or so as they pushed the ball around well but didn’t really stretch Brady in the Treaty goal. But Treaty scored with their first good attack of the game on 18 minutes when a cross from the right by Treaty was flicked on at the near post to leave a Treaty forward to head home at the far post. 1-0 to Treaty. Aaron Dobbs then had a header tipped over by Brady for a corner and Conor Davis also went close for Wexford. Wexford then conceded a calamitous second goal when two players went for the same ball following a free kick by Treaty to leave the Treaty forward to knock it into the empty Wexford goal. With half-time beckoning, Wexford got a goal back when the ball appeared to go in directly from a Wexford corner. 2-1 at half-time and Wexford still in the game.
