I'll give Alan Kelly a vote in this one. They're both a bit crap in fairness.

Both are a bit crap, but Kelly is celebrating an Irish goal and looks happy with his lot, therefore he gets my vote.

Kelly again. The white looks well.
He has the same shorts as in game 3, so maybe the one in game 4 is the away version
I'd say you've home/away the wrong way around. The white one seems to be in Lansdowne Road. That'd make the red one the away kit.
Though it's a keeper's top; it could easily be he's wearing the away top at home to avoid a colour clash I guess

Kelly for me this time round. Still not a great jersey, mind, but at least it's making an effort.

Some consolation for Given as his Henry kit cruises into the next round 8-3. But Kelly is 9-0 up against Paddy Kenny, and though there's still time for a comeback (until 6pm this evening)...there's not really.
Kelly is back for more 90s madness in blue and yellow, while in the yellow corner is Shay McDonagh, sporting the second oldest kit in the competition, from 1984.

I do like an old school O'Neills, I blame the GAA, McDonagh gets my vote.

Kelly over Kenny's training top for sure.
Also Kelly's blue/yellow (now that's good ugly!) over McDonagh though it's probably the first one where I like both of them.

mcdonagh for me. have a very soft spot for those early 80s shirts.

Kelly for me over McDonagh. McDonagh's shirt looks more like a rugby jersey than a keeper's one.

Rd 4 & 5 Kelly
That Rd 5 keeper jersey was the first 'unusual' colour selection that I remember.

Kelly v McDonagh
I like both. McDonagh's is a tidy jersey, but it's just a bit too Gah for me. Kelly's makes me want to dig out some 90s music and finish work an hour early.
Kelly it is.

11-0 in match 4; a real hammering there as Alan Kelly goes through.
I'll leave match 5 up for the weekend as it's typically quieter on here. We're half-way through the first round, and I'll pick it up again on Monday morning with match 6 - Wayne Henderson v Dean Kiely

I’ll go for McDonagh

Kelly for me.
That looks like the shirt McDonagh wore v Belgium 1981 when he made a total hames out of trying to deflect that late free kick over the bar, ultimately denying us a World Cup Final spot.

A really tight match there, but Alan Kelly edges it 6-5. Wouldn't be surprised to see the McDonagh kit given a back door back into the competition later in the week though.
We're half-way through the first round now, though only 10 of the 38 kits have made an appearance so far. We'll get round 1 finished by Wednesday and then go into the repechage to set us nicely for round 2 (the last 32) next week.
As promised, this match is Dean Kiely v Wayne Henderson. Specifically, it's the 2002 World Cup kit against the late Stan era kit. But which stays and which goes?

I’ll go for Kiely as it reminds me of good times

Henderson comfortably for me though Kiely's is decent by the standards of dull, black shirts.

Kiely.(little bit of green swung it)

Big lead for Henderson so far, although I think it's a bit harsh on Kiely; I like the green stripe.
Still taking votes till the morning, but in the meantime, we have one of the heavy hitters joining in now. It's won the best home kit and the best home kit - can the 88/90 top pull off the treble? To do so, Packie is going to have to beat another yellow outfit from 2003, here modelled by Nicky Colgan.

Poor Colgan. That's not a bad shirt at all, but it's not even different in any advantageous way from Packie's. Bonner all the way.

Bonner for me but I do like the Colgan one too.

Pat Bonner.

I like the green stripe on Kiely’s but Henderson’s blue is just different enough to stand out. Henderson it is.
The later game… Bonner, narrowly – which is odd for a stone cold classic. Colgan not too far behind but the yellow’s just a smidgin too bright. Tough draw for the later jersey.

The three stripes will always win. I'd imagine (i.e. I have no idea) that adidas kits just generally sell better than other brands. They look the business.

Wayne Henderson through on a 6-2 scoreline. Looking comfortable for Bonner against Colgan too, but still until 6pm or so to vote on that one.
Two very different kits going head to head now. Bonner with what I always thought was an underrated classic, against Given in a kit I had completely forgotten about and still can't make up my mind about as to whether I even like it or not.

Bonner. Umbro must have had a load a variations on that Given template, very similar to the Alan Kelly ones earlier.

8-1 for the Euro 88 kit against Nicky Colgan; safely through.
Still taking votes on the black/orange v blue/yellow, but two more for your consideration now. All black v all yellow; Given v Westwood.

Bonner in orange. I don't hate the Given jersey, but it's nothing special.
Westwood's yellow jersey is quite good, I think. The all black one on Given is just a bit dull.
