I think Kenny is pretty stubborn and is likely to persist with the current squad including Idah ahead of any new recruits. A bit pointless as this campaign is already a write-off and we should be looking to integrate obvious talents like Armstrong and Festy. I guess we'll have to wait until he is finally relieved of his duties and this agony comes to its protracted end.
The same stubborn Kenny who brought in Ferguson before anyone called for it? The same stubborn Kenny who got ridiculed for calling up Mikey Johnstone out of nowhere? Kenny has a lot of faults, but hes been the least stubborn of any of our managers in calling up good young players for years.
Festy has been in squads previously. I watched him vs Juventus yesterday, and while Im delighted hes starting and I think theres a good player in him, he was awful. Got substituted off on 54 mins with cramp of all things. How does a 21 year old have cramp in less than an hour of football at beginning of season!
The other one that Kenny keeps being "Stubborn" on is Manning. Yet he called him up in last squad, Manning turned it down and has been awful defensively for Southampton. Hes a nice footballer but a liability defensively, (see the Plymouth goal at the weekend), I personally think Callum O'Dowda is a better defender but Manning better going forward.
Sinclair Armstrong looks like he has something about him, theres a similarity to Heskey in his pace and power. With the players that we have injured in the forward positions theres a chance he could get a call up in next squad if he plays well again next weekend, if he gets another goal or 2 there is an excellent chance he gets a call up.
Armstrong and Connolly have have been the 2 best stories from our point of view in the opening weeks, you'd love to see them keep it going. Idah, Parrott and Obafemi coming under massive pressure for their places, Emakhu pushing too. Its brilliant to see what could be real competition for places developing that will hopefully give all our strikers a push

Just on the Ferguson point.
If you look at his thread. (Page 7)
People wanted him to start v Malta? Kenny brought him on on the 76 minute. There was so many injuries in that window I'm not sure he was quite the Nostradamus you think.

Of course when he was in the squad people wanted to see him play, thats normal, but no one was asking for the call up

Out of contract at end of season and being linked with Man City, Celtic and Crystal Palace.
Initial reaction would be for him to stay where he is, but with QPR in relegation trouble I wouldnt want him to sign a new contract and end up in L1. Links to City a bit fanciful for sure, and the Celtic route has been well covered on here. Palace interesting, but I'd be concentrating on having a good season if I was him and the see whats available when hes on a free contract

Scores only his second of the season today, at home against Bournemouth in the Cup.
Travers in nets for Bournemouth, so seems both sides are making the usual raft of changes for the Cup
That's Travers unable to join another English club this season as he's played for two clubs this season.

I had to check who he mugged off there. 15m and Argentina cap, Marco Sensei.

Not just England I think. Pretty sure it’s a FIFA rule that rules him out of joining all regular season (August-May) clubs - probably all clubs full stop. He could still rejoin Stoke though

Stoke already signed Iverson from Leicester City.

So you're saying Armstrong should go for 20m? Lovely. I believe Rovers have a nice clause in that contract.

Great run and cool finish - it's really surprising that this is only his second goal for QPR - hopefully it will spark a few more.

Sinclair is an absolute athlete, but he's not a natural goalscorer unfortunately. That's not to say he can't have a successful international career though, as long we accept his weaknesses and play to his strengths. But I don't see anyone paying big money for him until he adds goals to his game (if he does manage that there will be a queue).

He's an athletic Kai Havertz.

Saw the good and the bad of Sinclair again today against Watford - was a handful for the Watford defence all game, but then blew a great chance to give QPR the lead just before Watford scored. Continued to play well after that but couldn't find the net and QPR lost 2-1. Could be a useful option for the bench for us this year, but not as an out and out centre forward at this point.

Still only 20 - he has 3/4 years of growing to do before we really know what he is capable of.

Third of the season today - or second in a fortnight if you prefer to look at it that way!

First goal in the league since August is the other way of looking at it I suppose. The Sky reporter described him as having had a bad season or words similar to that, which is harsh, but I suppose if you just looked at his goals to minutes played maybe hard to argue. But he does offer more to his game other than goals. Hopefully he can go on a scoring run now.

Fans seem suitably impressed - even getting compared to a young Les Ferdinand! Definitely raw, however his pace, power, energy and attitude will terrify defenders and at the very least make space for others. Referred to as a “wrecking ball” which is a good analogy - worked for Emile Heskey!

Interesting to see his contract is up at the end of the season. Even without having scored a huge amount of goals, you'd think if he can smooth some of the rougher edges his value will be high even in a Championship context in a couple of season. The amount of fans ' goodwill he has attracted in the context of his scoring record is amazing. Idah could only dream of that backing.

Qpr have an option to extend for another year which I presume they will trigger.

We could only dream of Idah putting in the level of work rate and effort on the pitch that Armstrong puts in.
Grabs the second goal for QPR this afternoon as they lead 2-1

Lovely finish too
Given Ogbene's rise to the PL it should give Armstrong something to aspire to. At the same age Ogbene was still playing LOI with Limerick.
I didn't think Ogbene would ever make it to the PL never mind actually become a first team regular and get praised by pundits for some of his performances this season.

If Armstrong keeps progressing at his current rate he is going to be a really good footballer.
We have a lot of very talented kids and we just need a few of them to take the next step.

Armstrong is attracting interest from both Stoke City and Bristol City, it seems:

Scores in his second league game for Bristol City. Given that he has had barren spells and 3 in 61 league games for Qpr, it would be great if he can build a better ratio at his new club early.

Will have to keep scoring now that Bristol City have signed Twine from Burnley. However they may compliment each other

Twine's more of an attacking midfielder/10.
Fally Mayulu, another powerful, physical forward, will be his more direct competition for a starting place.

Armstrong is only 21 and still very raw - he has size, speed, strength and no little talent but I think it will be 3/4 years before we see what level he will end up (and I remain confident)

I agree. But he's getting good minutes at Championship level now which is great. I think if he dropped to League One or SPL he would score more goals but difficult to know how whether there would be a trade off on development.

I didn't mean my post to sound disparaging. Burnley were just all over them. Bristol had one shot the entire first half. I agree there's a player in there and he does offer something different than the rest of our strikers
